PL Dash 2022/2023 - Results of fixtures of 28/5/23.

The following set of fixtures was the PL Dash, the final matches of the "regular" PL competition and a stand-alone competition for a trophy in its own right.

Anyone who had taken part in the PL at any point this season was eligible to enter through predicting the scorelines for:

    (P) Arsenal v Wolverhampton Wanderers (5-0)
    (P) Aston Villa v Brighton & Hove Albion (2-1)
    (P) Brentford v Manchester City (1-0)
    (P) Chelsea v Newcastle United (1-1)
    (P) Crystal Palace v Nottingham Forest (1-1)
    (P) Everton v AFC Bournemouth (1-0)
    (P) Leeds United v Tottenham Hotspur (1-4)
    (P) Leicester City vWest Ham United (2-1)
    (P) Manchester United v Fulham (2-1)
    (P) Southampton v Liverpool (4-4)

    The rules:

In the event of a tie for first place, the eventual Dash winner will be determined to be (in order) the poster with

    1) The most correct outcomes

    followed by

    2) The closest to the total number of goals scored

    followed by

    3) The earliest to post (based on their last valid posting)

    So, here are the results:

Table is in format:- poster/points scored/number of correct outcomes/predicted number of goals

    Ozwhites / 24 / 2 / 21
    Deklufc / 21 / 5 / 25
    Silentman / 21 / 5 / 24
    Homer / 18 / 6 / 990
    Sniffer999 / 18 / 4 / 24
    Cherrypie7 / 18 / 3 / 28
    Tichi1 / 18 / 2 / 27
    Orgoner / 15 / 3 / 28
    Belper69Ram / 15 / 2 / 35
    Hgatenasty / 12 / 2 / 25
    Ozleeds / 12 / 2 / 24
    Johnny_Default / 9 / 3 / 1980
    UbiqueLUFC33 / 9 / 1 / 32
    MORRIM / 6 / 2 / 32
    Lufcjohn88 / 6 / 2 / 31
    Monaco_Totty / 6 / 2 / 30
    Dalek_Sec / 6 / 2 / 21
    Hopelesslyoptimistic / 3 / 1 / 41
    CalverleyBoy / 3 / 1 / 20
    Howie / 3 / 1 / 990

There were sixty points up for grabs from the final ten Premier League games and, with (our) PL title, european and relegation spots all hanging in the balance, this was more interesting than many of us hoped.

All-conquering (more on that in another thread!) Ozwhites (OxxxEEOxEx) scored a fairly modest 24 points (36 were needed last season) using just five fixtures, including the exact scorelines at Selhurst Park, Goodison Park and Old Trafford. He also thought Leeds would lose, which they obligingly did in spades. The useless twunts!

For the "official" second place, there was initially a tie between Deklufc (OxxOExxOOO) and Silentman (OxxxOEOOOx) who both scored 21 points from six fixtures.

Their final Dash rankings were determined by:

    1) The most correct outcomes

Dek (five outcomes, one exact). Silentman (five outcomes, one exact).

    No decision, so...

    2) The closest to the total number of goals scored

Dek (25 goals). Silentman (24 goals).

33 goals were scored, so Dek just sneaks the "official" second Dash place over Silentman.

Ozwhites is the official PL 2022/2023 Dash winner

Assuming I can get a shipping address out of him (I'll send a PM, mate!), Ozwhites will be receiving a trophy (well, three?!) in the post in the near(ish) future.

Many thanks to those of you who took the time to bother to enter and, assuming there's still a Leeds United at the close of summer, the 21st version of the PL competition (with this corresponding Dash at the end) should start again later this year!

    All the best! Stay safe!
