Premier League VAR official Mike Dean has decided to quit his role as one of 2 full time VAR officials,
following talks with PGMOL boss Howard Webb, ahead of the 2023-24 season.
He quits after reaching a agreement with professional game match officials boss Howard Webb.
Mike Dean retired from being a full time referee at the end of the 2021-22 season, moving to become
an exclusive VAR official at Stockley Park, for the 2022-23 premier league season.

Dean steps down after media speculation that he was " unsuited to the VAR role".
Despite being in a full time role, Dean had not been appointed to VAR duties for a premier league game
since February earlier this year.
Mike Dean in his VAR role lasted longer than the second exclusive VAR official Lee Mason, who was
stood down after making a mistake during the Arsenal v Brentford draw in February, Mason failed to
draw the VAR lines correctly, after which he quit his PGMOL role.
Mike Dean made a big error with VAR during a Chelsea Fc v Tottenham Hotspur game this last season.
With ex-premier league referee Graham Poll saying it " was not good enough ", over Deans obvious
mistake.
Howard Webb needs to step on quite a few referees this season, after starting with the VAR roles.
