Paying brain dead amounts of money to promote and improve your image mon ami. LIV Golf, NUFC, Benzema, Ronaldo and Messi in Saudi League on zillions, no mention whatsoever of errant citizens' hands and heads being chopped off.

The Saudis want the 2030 World Cup and you know FIFA's propensity for brown envelopes and expensive yachts?

Don't see how it improves their image mon ami, all it does is draw attention to their dubious activities, in which case it's self defeating. Maybe they are just people with more money than they know what to do with, and buying football clubs is but one use for it ?

They are trying to make the Saudi regime respectable mon ami, I've no issue with that whatsoever but I think we need to count the pennies being chucked at sport across the globe because the consequences are seismic.

I like this sportswashing, it's given us one the best football teams ever in City, it's been a vehicle for Pep and Vinni to develop their talents, it's now added Eddie Howe's Newcastle to the top teams in the country and rejuvenated that City.

So lots of good and it doesn't fool anyone, we all know what the Saudi regime is like, so let them spend their money on English football and English horse racing, I'm all for it, especially when it pays £25 million for Chris Wood.

It's certainly a double edged sword sinkov, I just don't want to see us cut to bits on the wrong side of it. If I'm still here in 2030 I fancy doing the World Cup in Jeddah.
