A realistic assessment of Vinni ?

"Kompany hype gets out of hand"

"It is always seductive to anoint a new managerial genius when they have been spectacular players in recent memory. The job Vincent Kompany did to win the Championship with Burnley was highly laudable, just as it was when Steven Gerrard won Rangers’ first title in a decade, just as it was when Patrick Vieira seamlessly blended in a dozen new signings to initially improve Crystal Palace. If Burnley start well expect some extremely frothy coverage of Kompany and all sorts of exotic links to huge clubs. Best to give it a few years before we make any final judgments, though."

    Seems fair enough to me.

I'll be buggered if I'll subscribe to the Telegraph, free or otherwise. Why can't they let you have a few free hits? Other than that, fair comment.

It will be interesting to see how this season pans out for VK and the Clarets.

Good recruitment now is absolutely v-i-t-a-l.

The thing is I was not overly impressed with VK in the early part of the season, but sinkov advocated patience and by January I was a VK zealot.

I am utterly convinced we will have a great season. Bring it on!

We need to buy some players - the big boys league is a different animal to last season - physicality is going to be important for me anyway, we have skilful players in a bit worried we might get bullied.

We could always put a cheeky bid in for Slab Head, Ten Haag has seen enough, even if Gareth is still a believer.

Hopefully we are not that nutty Sinkov. Any news about Macnally?

After watching him in the play-offs he does not look ready for the EPL yet. Coventry now want £30 million for Gyokeres so any possible P/X deal has gone out of the window methinks.

And so has any chance of signing Gyorkes. I think we should stick to what worked last season, a few promising youngsters from Europe that we can pick up relatively cheaply. We're not competing with the top six, we only have to better then Sheffield United and Luton plus one other, that needn't cost the earth.

The asking price for Gyokeres is off the chart mon ami. VK won't pay it and AP won't sanction it.
