There has been more column inches and photo's of the Windsor's, z listers, women kissing each other and what they all are wearing.
It's become more of a social and fashion show ,than a tennis tournament and no mention of how much the strawberry and cream cost this year.

And the BBC coverage has been absolutely abysmal. Andrew Castle must be the most annoying commentator on TV - he never shuts up and spouts utter garbage - awful

I thought the "Middle Class" was no more. I use watch it with inerest when Jimmy Connors and Byorg were in their prime.
And of course Chrissy Everet I think her name was.

Ah the old Dunlop Maxply. I was chuffed when I bought mine. I was a member of Streetly Tennis Club for a couple of years. Thought I was the bees knees when I turned up with that racquet.

Hi ironic Joy, I drove through Streetly for the first time in about 15 years today.

I used to call there on Jan Webster Sports ( Jan was England’s Rugby Union hooker in the early 70’s ) do it was a trip down memory lane for me today.

Streetly has always been a popular area for tennis, I never realised you were so middle class! 🤣🤣

Streetly has always been a popular area for tennis, I never realised you were so middle class! ����

Middle Class? Guys and Gals were turning up to play in their sports cars and 4x4's and I used to drive up in an MG1300 saloon that cost me £260.00 with wings full of paper and Isopon. No one ever asked me to play except my mate who was also a member. When I finally gave it up when they put the fees up I pinched a genuine Wimbledon towel that was lying around the changing room. Got to have your little victories.

I had a friend who was older than me and he was a good county player. He was a member of Bilston Lawn Tennis Club in Villiers Avenue. I have had a few nights in there with him in the seventies because when the country thought the war was still on and pub's closed at half ten, the tennis club was open until 3am. I never found the people in there snotty or stuck up, mind you it was Bilston. The club has been gone many years now.
The only time I watched Wimbledon was in the mid seventies just to see Chrissy Evert she was too gorgeous to be a tennis player. I would have liked her thighs wrapped around my neck. The rest of the women were uglier than the men.
Remember the 77 final, Virginia Wade v Big Betty Stove? Dear god, that would be a great antidote to Viagra.

I listened to the 1979 women's Wimbledon final on my radio at Thompson's while working there. I was bitterly disappointed when she was beaten by the bloke in a skirt.
Crocodile Dundee should have checked that.
