    The Broadest Shoulders

Plans confirmed yesterday by the Scottish government to increase the Council tax for property in the higher bands. We're not talking about the mega rich castle owners here but bands E to H which is almost a third of properties in Scotland.

I have already completed the consultation and I did not hold back.
Sadly this is another ‘box ticking’ exercise by the SNP controlled Scottish Government as they will have already made their mind up and they are only interested in the views of people who agree with them.
The Scottish Government currently have 15 consultations on their website available to be completed by members of the public and representatives of interested organisations.

Hope you are wrong. Old people need to get off their backsides and start telling these talentless MSPs what's what. It is nothing to do with class or age or political theory. They tax us too much, and don't understand that probably the least able sector of the electorate that will be hit by this ridiculous approach is the elderly on fairly fixed incomes.

I am surprised that our useless MPs and MSPs do not take heed of the ‘grey’ vote as these people continually turn out and vote in elections. In my opinion it is ridiculous that money is wasted giving druggies their daily slug of methadone when the majority of deaths in the latest figures from the Scottish Government were from methadone overdoses. Give them ‘cold Turkey’ and spend the money saved on repairing the potholes in the roads.
I am currently doing battle with the Chief Executive of Argyll and Bute Council about the failure of the roads team on Islay to repair a pothole which I reported two weeks on the trot via the Argyll and Bute Council website.

Agree. Somehow we are being conned into thinking that a socialist government delivers a redistribution of wealth from the richest to the poorest. It isn’t happening and all we see is taxes going up to pay for more "government".
Somehow we need to get more people making sensible constructive criticism of the failure to deliver any meaningful improvement in the lives of the poorest in society. It seems to me that we need to get the Greens out of their powerful position in Holyrood.

The Nationalists are the only people who can make their party change its tune. Nobody listens to Tories or New Labour Tories, or slightly Liberal Tories, and Green Tories don't exist, imo.

In my opinion the only way that we can get rid of the current group of Green list MSPs is to bombard them with emails raising all sorts of concerns. In Scotland you can send an email to any MSP raising a concern but at Westminster you can only raise a concern with your own constituency MP which in Dundee West is Chris Law.
I know for a fact that the Green MSP Maggie Chapman who is the list MSP for the Dundee area is concerned about trees being chopped down for the new stadium development at the former NCR Camperdown grounds.
    Trees help absorb CO2 emissions.
