    Max Wober....

Yep , you know the chap who supposedly said he was staying to help us bounce straight back up , well his absence today was down to a transfer situation according to Farke , looks like there will be some movement in the next few days

    Now that is a blow

Surprise surprise, as my "deserters" post said, rats deserting a sinking ship who were the rats that sunk us. No loyalty or conscience to put right their wrongs.

Disappointing to say the least, especially as he was supposed to be ‘open’ to staying.

Agree norfolk just wish they would not come out with these statements then jump ship a few weeks later.

Think Wober would have been class for us in the championship but him leaving makes us weaker in defence!

A long season ahead me thinks.....

He has apparently agreed terms with Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Sad to see him go but if he don't want to play for us then he can sod off

Come on, lets be real. He probably was "open to staying" (he didn't f00k off like Koch and Llorente at least!), but an offer comes in (and I have no idea where he is going by the way), and it's better than the situation he finds at LUFC (which isn't exactly brilliant, is it?) so why should he (or any other player) be criticised for going where the grass is greener?

And lets not overlook the fact that it wasn't Wober (or even the likes of Aaronson, Roca, Adams or Rutter) who allowed us to wither as a PL club, without a credible attack and a defence that was weak from the time we were promoted, it was Radrizzani, Orta, and the 49-ers representatives, whose influence led to the influx of poor quality players and an incompetent coach, and apart from the 49-ers they have all f00ked off.

As for "loyalty, there isn't a player at any club in the top two tiers (at least) who feel what used to be the loyalty that is built up over a career spent playing for just one or maybe two clubs, they no longer exist. I don't see anyone giving Phillips a hard time, despite him being an Academy grad and a "Leeds lad", his departure for Schitty was met with "shame he's leaving, but good luck to the lad" kinds of sentiments, so why the knives out for players who have been with us for the equivalent of the blink of an eye?

More will go, especially the youngsters if we bring in players destined for positions they have worked at making theirs, and I for one will wish them well when they go, the club could and should do better by them.

Just begining to think, that the level of outgoings, now possibly Wober,Adams & Harrison will be difficult, at the right price to replace.
Balance of squad looks all over the place, need sensible / experienced recruits throughout, Champ is a tough 40 plus match battle, and at present we are well short in all areas. Time will tell, but we still appear farting around in the key areas, - GK, LB, CB, DM, and Striker.
Two games in, plus training, and still the penny hasnt dropped.

I thought that money wasn’t a problem for the 49ers.
Why then aren’t we trying to keep our best players.
After all, isn’t that what motivates the modern day player.

Those who move ‘to win things’ are mostly lying bar stewards.
Phillips won the treble and played a handful of games but for a bagfull of money.
80 grand a week in the championship is the same as 80 grand a week in the premiership. Buys the same groceries in Tesco’s

We don't know what budget has been agreed for transfers, or the level of spend that is seen as acceptable for wages during the season.

The revenue stream will have taken a big hit, despite parachute payments which will only give the club around half of the TV revenue it got whilst in the PL and that will reduce to nil in three years time. Sponsors will be much less inclined to dig deep in their pockets when we have next to zero TV time, and are playing the likes of Plymouth Argyle and Preston, not Chelski and Scum. Getting rid of some of the top earners makes sense (even if the many players who have exit clauses in the event of relegation don't!), but they are all (so I believe) at present taking the form of loans, not transfers so reducing the wage bill but not adding to any transfer kitty.

Money is a big motivator as you say, but I suspect that there is also a desire to be seen in the most prominent "shop windows" and unfortunately that's not the Championship. Players like Meslier, Rodrigo, even the likes of Aaronson, who presumably want to figure at international level simply won't be seen by those selecting their national sides, so if a club from any of the "top tier" divisions comes along with an attractive offer, it's likely that the offer will be accepted and unfortunately LUFC can't offer that shop window, at least not for a while.

(And if we're paying 80k/week to anyone come the start of the season, then we're getting our pants pulled down, again).

Sounds like Wober going out on loan. Another position looking light / needing strengthening asap. The seemingly never ending revolving door of players leaving, zero cash coming the other way, and recruits as yet next to nothing, its laughable & worrying
Huge squad inbalance, older, injury prone, down to young inexperienced U21s, never going to work in the Champ.
