    Season predictions (1st look)

So that's the end of the main pre-season matches. Time for the annual initial attempt at predictions. As usual, I'll ask again after the first ten games just in case we're all pleasantly surprised or things are worse than we feared.
The online pundits are placing us between 17th and 19th but mainly because they are unimaginative!
I thought I'd introduce some extra details to predict this time round.
Our position: 16th (perhaps I'm unimaginative as well!)
    Outstanding player: Tabiner
    Breakthrough player: Lunt
    Champions: Notts County
Also promoted: Gillingham; MK Dons; Stockport.
    Relegated: Crawley; Newport County.
    Over to you!

Despite above predictions, I think we'll be a better team than last season. Tabiner showed at the end of the season and in this preseason how talented he is and I think he'll kick on. My 16th place will largely be dependent on how fit or otherwise Long is this year. A mostly fit Long could push us a lot further up the rankings. It would also mean he'd be the stand out player. His appearances will also impact on breakthrough player as his absence could mean we see a lot Holicek. I've hedged my bets as I think/hope Long will appear fairly often enough to make midfield the main focus of injury giving Lunt opportunities to fill in when Colkett and Thomas are absent.
As for the rest of the predictions- it may be my heart not my head that doesn't follow the media pundits in their adoration of all things Hollywood/Wrexham. It was also hard to include Stockport in promotion teams.
At the bottom, I did toy with Morecambe who are having a bit of a crisis. I also went for Crawley cos I just don't like them!

Well recruitment is nowhere near complete with players needed for many positions our goalkeeper from Liverpool looks not a patch on previous recruitment and Booth is not ready so we are very weak there bearing in mind we can’t even give Richards away he is not the answer either, defensive recruitment has been average with only the CB Demitriou being the only piece of good business the FB looks average at best Adebisi and Offord need moving on we can’t give BSD away and Williams needs time. Midfield we need a ball winner badly and too many sick notes in both midfield and up front will expose are very small squad

    I’m predicting 18th
    Outstanding player Tabiner
    Breakthrough player Billington
    Champions Wrexham
Promoted Notts county, Stockport and Salford.
    Relegated Grimsby and Crawley.

Midtable, 11th or 12th for me. Remain to be convinced about the keeper, but remember watching big Arthur at Rochdale and thinking the same, so we'll give him time. Should be strong at CH, Powell in midfield is a serious upgrade and I would hope we'll score some goals. Tracey looks a real prospect.
    Outstanding player Tracey
    Breakthrough Lunt
    Champions US money bags
Promoted Stockport, Gillingham and Notts County
    Relegated Crawley, Morecambe
