It has been suggested that the contract with Luton included a huge drop in pay for Palmer should Luton be relegated after one season in the Premier.

Luton offered more than the 2.3 to 3 million suggested but the personal terms were the issue. If this is correct then he may well move on before the window closes.

It’s the outcry from fans across social media about the ridiculous fee that’s halted this sale, not Corberan putting his foot down with Miles.

A bigger fee will still see him walk.
You could say that about any of our players re the fee. They all have a price. Its how it should be, if an offer is too good to turn down and to our advantage, we should sell.

    My sentiments exactly 123!

He was offered a flex down, like we do, tthat would have put him on less than what we pay him now.

I am glad he stays, but a fee of £6m to £8m.

That would be £16m to £18m of the £20m loan hanging over us.

Nice thought Blood...but I think that debt is staying on the book. I think that may be the reason Lai has dropped his price. The price (if correct £60m) may retain ALL present outstanding debt looks like it is priced in. So unless the potential buyer is serious, we could still see an out flow before the window closes. End of August is it now?

You seem to want to pick for the sake of picking.

Where did I say that they don’t all have their price?

I very clearly stated that £3m was not the right price for Palmer in my opinion and in this thread I said that I thought it was the mass outcry of derision from our fans that had seen this sale called off!

I also stated that a bigger fee would see him walk!

I fail to see how you could find anything ambiguous or against your own views regarding player value in what I stated?

If a club agrees to sell a player but a player does not want to leave (say over wages) who gets the say?
My understanding from Blood's post earlier was no personnel terms agreement.
Could Palmer refuse? Or any player for that matter?
    Just wondering.

You can’t force a player to take a drop in wages Dubs.

Not unless you compensate him on the way out of the door.

OK. So even if a team offered say £10m but he can't agree terms and he has two years to run on his contract, HE can refuse?
    Correct?

Correct mate……it’s a contract, it works both ways.

That said, any club can make things very uncomfortable for a player they want out especially if they need the incoming fee.
