    Matchday Thread: Derby v Wigan

So, here we go. Chapter 2 in the story of the reborn Derby County

I can't help but think it doesn't look quite as promising even as last year - back then, it was a voyage of mystery, with so many new players, but to me as we start the new seson it feels a bit more like 'tinkering' than genuine evolution - some new players maybe a bit of an improvement on what we had, some a bit too like for like

However, I'm always the optimist and without any great knowledge of Wigan, I'm going 2-0 Rams, with the much-maligned collins amongst the scorers as part of a more fruitful season for him

    Anyone?

I fear that the weight of expectation may lay heavier on our shoulders this year. Last year we were just happy to have a club and had no necessary aspirations for success. This year there is more pressure and fans may get narked if we don't come running out of the stalls, or make the signings people have hoped for.

A tricky start to the season, heart says 2-1, head says 1-1.

1-1... Nothing more than a guess, will have a better idea after Saturday of how PW wants us to shape.

3-1. Collo, Bird, NML. One thing's certain, whatever the result, we'll be above Wigan post game.

0-3 Any team that starts the season with a points deduction sets off like a house on fire.

Having enjoyed six weeks of an excellent ashes series I find the thought of nine months of whingeing footballers thinking that they are god's gift somewhat depressing!
So in my 'why have you gits reappeared to disfigure the ball on willow season' I'll go for a mind numbing 0 - 0.

aye Mac, but the cricket season is also over, so this year maybe the return of football doesn't overstep the mark. Anything that can blot out the execrable 100 from my screens is in my mind a good thing: even motocross from Hungary or the bloody netball world cup

Blotting out the excrement called 'The Hundred' has got to be good but the women are doing that very well imo!
