Another defender scores! That's our whole back line on the scoresheet. It was totally out of the blue! Will we up the pressure?

Is Rio going to be our top scorer? It's not just the 2 he's got but he twice came closest to getting another. So are we going to stick with 3-5-2? Whatever, our midfield need to be more involved in the game.
Nevitt had more impact than CBR. Tracey did not have a good game. Rio going forward is seriously good, I'm not sure about Rio defending. Overall, though poor. Both tactics and player application nearly lost us the game.
It was a game of contrasting uses in playing out from the back and pressing it. We never pressed intensively- Tracy doesn't seem to understand how to do it. On the other hand we tried to play out but a couple of times having beaten the press we then played the ball back into it.
In the end too much space conceded. Too many poorly hit passes. Finally not enough desire to get forward.

Just heard McGarry's comments about "character" and "fightback" in his interview with LB. Yes we did come back from 2-0 down (again) but there wasn't a lot of fight involved (despite the yellow cards). We barely got into second gear.
LB rightly pointed out poor passing, all over the pitch, but didn't mention the half-arsed press or the tendency to play ourselves into trouble at the back. He didn't mention a slow and over stretched middle either. He did seem to think the forwards had chances but I didn't see any. In fact our best 'forward' was Rio.
There has to be change for Newport and this would include a progressive attitude in getting the ball forward. Let's have a game where the Alex make more forward passes than backward ones.

... or better still have a game where the Alex score more goals than the other team (?)

Looked a lot better when Nev came on. I know people are annoyed about his lack of goals but his link-up play is very useful in getting the ball moving (mainly forwards).

And puts in a lot more effort than CBR appears to.

Agreed. The not scoring may be a millstone for him but he does do a lot of work.
The main problem for the team yesterday was supply.

Yes you're right! CBR needs to up his work rate, show us he is interested, because he appears to be going through the motions at the moment

He had a purple patch last season before getting injured. Maybe he thinks he’s better than he actually is?

A draw away from home is always a good result.

So many negative comments by posters, especially one who recommends positive posts. Amazingly not even a whisper from our great white knight, Sir Timmy. A couple of days ago he informed us that he will continue expreesing his belief in fairness. On that note possibly he is on holiday. If so hope he enjoys it.

I thought it was an excellent result...a draw away at Swindon always is. Seemed to change when Nev came on and I wonder if LBs after game remarks about experienced players not doing their jobs, were aimed at CBR.
