I'm surprised our first 'real' derby with our near neighbours has not achieved the profile some of us were expecting?

Gretna caused a huge commotion all those years ago, - but the rise of Annan has been met with nothing more than a whimper.

Their very quiet start to the season is a shame, as expectations in Annan will be low, - but hopefully they'll bring a good few across to Palmerston to create a lively atmosphere on Saturday.

The added spice will be the father and son as Willie may face his lad Lewis. I wonder if this has happened in the professional Scottish game before?

Good point Spike! Was it not a unique situation last season with father and son playing for the same club?

Annan have a good few ex Queen's players in their ranks with points to prove - which could take this game beyond just being a 'normal' derby, - and one that Marvin cannot take for granted.

Queens will be really up for this. Annan have a few injury problems recently and have lost all 6 games this season already. Won’t be easy but I’m confident of a home win.

Just watched the Annan v Stranraer highlights and two of Annan's goals are first time strikes from crosses, - Queens will need to beware. Their other goal was from distance.

Tactics that Queens could do to adopt, - as too often we try to 'thread the needle' when a good old strike can pay dividends.

Annan played very well in the first half and did exactly as I expected. Thank God big Goss wasn't playing or we'd have gone it at least 2-0 down at the interval.

The 2nd half was a completely different matter and a combination of having the wind behind us, self belief, the ability to freshen things up from the bench and Annan fading after their midweek game, - meant the match was never in doubt, - but the next derby might be a different kettle of fish.

Still very much a work in progress situation for Queens.

First 20 minutes Queens were getting muscled off the ball far too easily and we were shocking at the back. As the game turned it was inevitable that Queens would score and despite the penalty miss we ran out comfortable winners. Gavin Reilly is looking more and more like the young Gav we had in his first spell at the club. We do have pace and need to utilise it with more balls played in behind opposition defences.

My thoughts mainly, apart from the fact that Queens were so poor in the first half it looked like Annan played well. Both teams were shocking. Your second paragraph is spot on. Mainly the self belief aspect. 'Mon the South!
