Swansea City v Bristol City

Buoyed by the four signings on deadline day of the transfer window, yesterday (see the transfer window thread), we go into today’s match at home to Bristol City full of confidence. It’s an early kick-off at 12:30 and the weather is sunny in Swansea for a change after all the rain we’ve had in the last two months.
Narrowly beaten by an injury time goal against Bournemouth in a much improved performance midweek, we look to get our first win of the season in the league at the fifth attempt after two draws at home and two away defeats by the odd goal.
I expect an unchanged side for the Swans to their last league game at Preston. Nathan Wood didn’t play against Bournemouth after all the speculation on a move to Southampton and two failed bids. I expect him to return today with the new signings watching on.
A two week break coming up before the Cardiff derby and we will not want to lose this one today.

What a shambles that was. Totally outplayed by the Robins, who worked harder, ran harder, and outmuscled us off the ball time after time.
Three disallowed goals and still they managed to beat us. No shape on us at all, wide open on the wings, midfield non existent, a hesitant and sluggish defence, a recipe for disaster, and so it turned out.
That’s the third defeat in a week. Time to integrate the four players signed yesterday. The other signings showed nothing to get them picked again. Only Joe Allen when he came on as sub showed any fight.
A huge task in the next few weeks of the international break for Duff to lift these players.
It was another poor attendance too, as our fans showed their discontent with the performances so far this season.
Never mind, Russell Martin’s Southampton lost 5-0 at Sunderland!

A shambles, we had no idea how to counteract their aggressive high press, their use of fast wingers, and their midfield dominance.
Back to the drawing board for Mr Duff, the plan is not working, the formation is not working.

I’m hoping the deadline day signings will get up to speed in the two week break and come straight in to the side.
Humphreys, Pedersen and Tymon are badly needed to bolster what has been a very weak defence so far this season.
