Spike, the problem of the pathetic passing game across our own box was explained to the manager as long ago as the East Fife match on this site, - surely someone could have quietly pointed it out to him? Why is he still persisting with this dreadful ploy? More sensibly, - Marvin should have seen for himself it wasn't working in July, - but by now it just suggests utter belligerence and an "I know better than fans who pay good money and have been supporting the club for more than half a century" attitude.

There is more than enough ability in the team to win 80% of matches in league one, - but only if he stops this suicidal tactic. Marvin please, please stop this crass stupidity. You don't even need to admit it in your press interviews, - just change the tune!

Jardi like it or not, the manager probably does no better than us. He’s sat his coaching courses, played at a far higher level than most and trains these players every day. That’s why he’s paid a lot of money. Whether you agree with his tactics or not, he will either succeed or lose his job. I honestly don’t know why we have a manager when fans all think they know better. Spike is correct in what he said. The whole idea of the passing at the back is to bring teams on top so you can get in behind them. The problem we have is the players qos have at the moment are quite simply either not consistent or good enough, I can’t decide one way or the either, however I for one see what the manager is trying to do, but like spike said this style is for the likes of Man City and the likes, and imo spike is right.
Do I agree with his tactics, personally I don’t. We have two flying wingers on each side of the pitch and we should be getting the ball to them quicker. That’s my opinion but I wouldn’t expect the manager to take up my opinions, like some on here. It’s his decisions and he will sink or swim by then. That’s the job of management

I'm purely of the opinion that most of the squad are just not good enough. That's not a criticism as it's not their fault, it happens in every sport. It was the apparent lack of effort and communication that gets me. Full backs struggle, McKechnie flatters to deceive more often than not and if the new striker is the answer I'm not sure what the question is.

Also, Connelly is the only "edge of your seat" creative player but keeps getting taken off or doesn't start

Fatfan, - I'm generally in agreement with everything you say. I got up to level 4 in coaching many moons ago, - and it certainly wasn't easy, - but there's one 'stand out,' I was desperate to listen to any advice from anyone, - take it all on board and decide how best to move on.

Marvin is clearly in a different stratosphere from me, and everyone else on this board, - but he keeps making the same stupid mistake which is 'plittering about at the back.' Of -course we all know what he's trying to do, - which is draw the opposition forward so Queens can make the telling pass, - but all he's succeeding in doing is inviting disaster at the back, - and then when a ball is thumped up the park its dealt with easily.......the tactic is simply not working, - end of.

I also find it disturbing that he is allegedly 'beasting' his players in training for his own mistakes, - that is not good management in any shape or form. He'd be better to put his hand up and admit his tactics are not working for a variety of reasons and play to his strengths instead.

If Marvin doesn't sort it out and Queens are beaten by Annan, - he may well find himself staring into the abyss.

Jardi , that’s the issue for me….. he won’t admit his own mistakes.

I don't know if it is in our defenders contracts that they must give the ball to Ambrose but it certainly looked that way on Saturday. There was one point in the game where he could not make his mind up what to do and eventually fell over the ball giving the attacker a clear run in on goal. Give McClelland his due, he hit a couple of lovely long cross field balls directly to the feet of the winger, this is something that should be employed far more often rather than the usual hopeful punt upfield. There must have been around a 1000 home fans on Saturday but if our diabolical home performances continue then this figure is going to reduce rapidly.

Folks, please don't get me wrong, - this is not about me or the rest of the posters on this site suggesting we know best and Mr Bartley doesn't, - this is simply me and several other people pointing out (albeit quite vociferously) that the nonsense square passing in our own box has caused us to lose cup games and many league points.

Indeed, I would courteously request that he changes this particular tactic, - as it is clearly not working, and perhaps even considers varying how he plays from the back, - including the keeper occasionally launching balls to McKechnie, Walker and Gibson et al to strike fear into opposition defences as they terrorise them with their pace.

Perhaps a polite request may have more success?

I would have to agree, the playing about at the back needs to, at the very least, be curbed a bit.

He's not some new aged footballing visionary, unfortunately, with some otherworldly tactics. He's fallen into the same trap as many modern coaches in that he's trying to imitate Pep's approach to the game which is nigh on impossible with sub-standard players

And that’s the point I am making. All this talk about having a squad full of quality is just not true. And it’s certainly not good enough to play this style of football. But this is the managers decision and that’s what he is paid good money to do. So if he’s wrong then he will more than likely find his career curtailed a bit, but he can always say he done it his way and not the way of supporters.
