Sadly, it means he'll be cup-tied for the final.
Playing tonight against Celtic and has looked sharp up to now.He looks good for a 19 year old.
Sadly, it means he'll be cup-tied for the final.
This looks like it's going to be a brilliant loan move for him.
CL experience, lots of game experience in the league - can only benefit us for next season.
The lad is looking like a sick signing!
We'll bring him in next season & that's an immediate upgrade for the right wing for £9million? The Ashworth era of signings is off to a great start!
Let's hope Garang Kuol can emulate the same sort of progress and we'll be able to bring in both players to the squad. Both under 21 so don't need to be registered. Theoretically we'll be able to register the same 25man squad + 2 or more under 21s. Meaning we could field of 28,29 players across the 24/25 season.
Hats off to the recruitment team for identifying a quality of player we've not looked at ... ever TBH ... even in the glory days we never really signed this calibre of youth player. Save for Milner & N'Zogbia, they are the only two youngsters that come to mind.
Credit to the board for financing the future proofing signings!
Long may it continue
Yankuba Minteh's positional awareness has been called into question in the Netherlands by Mikos Gouka, a journalist for Algemeen Dagblad:
"I have seen Minteh come on, but when he is standing there… the bench has been screaming at him for thirty minutes, because Minteh walks everywhere he should not.
During dead moments he doesn't know where to stand... He is a player who does everything on intuition. Eigh**** months ago he was still an amateur. Overall, he's not handling it well enough.”
However Minteh's Manager, Arne Slot, has jumped to the defence of the Newcastle loanee:
"That’s right… but I think that is also the reason why Newcastle United loaned him to us!
They, just like us, see a lot of talent in him. But it [his developing talent] is not ‘finished’ yet. That is the place we currently occupy in the football pyramid. If he had such an overview of the ball to give every cross, he would have stayed at Newcastle.”
Minteh has won Feb goal of the month award.
Great to see him back in the swing of things.
Hopefully he gets played for us next season and not sent out on another loan for a year.
