    Car insurance

My Sister in Law has just had a phone calling telling her they won't insure her Range Rover Evoque , when it comes up for renewal in April 24 .
She has a clean licence and has never had a claim.
Are insurance's picking and choosing cars they don't wont to take the risk on.

    Did they give a reason?

They didn't give a reason and it was a shock to her and she didn't question it .

I think that I would have asked them the reason.

I posted on this weeks ago.

Jaguar Land Rover have a basics issue with keyless entry causing their cars to be nicked.

Merry Hill, Dudley has an epidemic of this, at least one more went yesterday.

Land Rover no longer even offer insurance on their own models for you to drive away when you purchase one, yes……it’s THAT bad.

I even got turned down by my regular insurer on my new X5 and had to use BMW’s own insurance cover at over £2000 for the year, 3 times what I paid last year.

The insurance agent told me that everyone’s insurance is going to spike massively due to the JLR theft issue.

The other thing taking a hit is the value of Range Rover cars, I was shocked when I checked my wife’s Evoke that I bought her nearly new last year, it had dropped £22k in value in 9 months! 🫣😮

As you leave your JLR car you have to be aware of who’s close to you, as you exit the car these thieves are able to read your chip, block your signal to close the car and they then jump in and drive away.

Around Stourbridge I see around 4 to 6 neighbourhood posts each week about JLR car thefts.

Your sister might now be best trying SAGA Insurance if she’s old enough or perhaps BMW if they cover other makes.

I don’t know the value of her car Lloyd but if it’s fairly new I’d expect she’ll get quoted no less than £2k and more likely closer to £4k.

She may need to take the hit on selling it to buy something less s e x y and in demand with thieves but her insurance will still probably shock her.

Anyone buying a JLR model until they sort out this mess is an idiot like I was although I didn’t know I was being an idiot at the time.

The fact JLR won’t insure their own vehicles tells you everything!

My daughter works for an insurance company so will check this out for you Soulman to see if her company will insure her. I do know that post code is a big factor though and if-as Mick says-theft rates are that high for this model in your area then I suspect that they either won't do so or else the premium will be stupid money. Worth asking though. Do you know your sister in laws post code?

    Hi
Just messaged my daughter and she pretty much confirmed what everyone else has said. If you live out in the sticks you maybe have a chance but trying to insure them now in certain postcode areas is nearly impossible. The company she works for is Adrian Flux who used to make their name insuring high spec / modified/ import cars. They are certainly not the cheapest insurers out there but she says they may be worth a go, although she also says to phone for a quote rather than apply online as you will get a better rate.

I think maybe Mr Bean had the right idea with the padlock on his mini..
