Marvin could still be a great, - but he needs to accept he isn't infallible and he needs to listen to advice, - whether its Eddie Howe or the neighbour's cat, - they all have something to say, - and when the going gets tough, - the tough need to consider other points of view.

Philosophical bull**** you may argue, - but there is as yet no Bible to read which allows you to become a great manager. Instead every game becomes the reading for that day, - and its how you react to that 'reading' - which makes or breaks you.

We do need to stick by him, - of course we do, - it's only the 2nd of October!

Marvin has reached a fork in the road, - and thinks he's lost, - but all he needs to do is change direction and see where that takes him.

If this were nearing Christmas, - then the panic button would need to be pressed, - but for now the re-set one will do.

You do have to question where the team which had excellent results, against higher league opposition amongst others, at the beginning of the season has disappeared to. The squad of players based on those results should be more than good enough to get us to the playoffs.

Spike - they haven't disappeared, - it's just that their confidence has been knocked. Playing predictably from defence invites the opposition onto us from the kick off, - 'spiking' the stress levels which leads to inevitable errors.

If we vary how we play out from defence, we will outfox the opposition and give ourselves more time. This is incredibly important when nerves are shot and top performers like Mimnaugh are missing. In addition, - it might help calm Marvin on the touchline, - who was clearly distraught in his after match interview. That is no criticism of the man, - as it shows how deeply he cares.

Tomorrow will not be an easy match, as Stirling have faltered too, - let's hope the tide has turned and with it a change in fortune.

Let's be honest though, the League Cup results are all over the place before the season starts properly. Motherwell wouldn't have been fully tuned up at that point. They're clearly a different proposition now.

Aye, confidence may have been knocked slightly, however they're pro footballers being paid to do what is their actual job. Petted lips need to be folded away and they need to get on with it.
