Somehow they see themselves as holding Nationalists to account. Not defending MSM, just trying to point out that Nationalism is actually a philosophy for controlling the people, and not an economic or moral code,imo.

Not sure that's 100% true. Although one of its early leaders, Arthur Donaldson, was suspected of having links to the German National Socialists when involved in his then United Scotland movement this was never proven and in fact was only 'revealed' many years later when spy stories began to be leaked. As we all know spy stories are never really fully leaked and are mostly guessing and assumption. He was arrested on suspicion of subversive activities in 1941 and spent six weeks in jail but was never convicted of anything, many think he was actually arrested because of his declared pacifism not for support of the German Nazi cause. He also believed that had the German invasion been successful he could set up a Scottish Government that would work with them and that would protect Scotland whilst England fell. I don't think that really constitutes the entire SNP being tarred with the National Socialist brush, I also think it shows just how deluded he must have been.

He later became leader of the SNP of course but it's hard to see when the SNP ever displayed tendencies toward a far right ideology that advocates a totalitarian state and the suppression of individual freedoms (except during Covid of course but they were only following the lead of an incompetent Tory Government during that debacle) in fact they seem to demonstrate more and more left leanings and want to allow the wrong people too much freedom.

I think it is wrong to assume that Scottish National socialism is a benign cosy left wing all embracing political party. Don't forget they started out as Tartan Tories and ate up the Conservative vote under the guidance of Gordon Wilson. It was a political ploy to turn the party into a left wing party and use the idea that Nationalism was somehow a route to economic greatness.

I've lifted the last part of your post and edited it. All nationalist parties seem to fail their people, imo. That's why I doubt the SNP's drive for independence will actually help us.
