Do/Can we bring any free agent defenders in?

With the current defensive injury crisis do we risk bringing any free agent defenders as short term to cover or run with what we have crossing fingers players will be back fit sooner rather than later? Are we even allowed to do it considering we have a defender in Bola who can't play at the minute because he isn't registered in our squad?
I read an article about Daniel Ayala still being without a club. A capable defender on a pay as you play deal could work for both parties

Ayala another sick note if we could a centre back with no recent history of injuries.

No, the squad can't be changed until January. We have what we have and that's it.

Stokes just got a good free agent full back in,
    Ciaran Clarke.

Stoke won't have submitted a full 25 man squad so they'll have space. We have submitted 25 so we can't bring in anyone else.

It's been posted on here numerous times but for those who still haven't seen it. This is why we can't bring anyone else in.

Like it says name 8 subs instead of 9 then you can bring a free agent in unless I've read it wrong.

We could if we hadn't submitted the youth player as the 25th man. But we have so we can't. I don't know how many more times I can say it.

I suppose what we could do is approach a free agent or two and have them train with us to get them fit and sharper with a view to them starting in early Jan. Maybe sign a pre contract agreement to stop another club stealing them from us after we’ve put the effort in
As others have said this would mean revising the squad list

    Alternatively we bring McCart back

No point getting a free agent in unless he can play. January unless we are as good as down prioritise signing a centre back fit good enough. Until then Odoffin will have to cover there in an emergency Hugill.
