    The Ancient Greeks v England

Decided to watch this down at my local club on their big (really big) screen and see what fellow patrons think but only me watching at the moment..

I thought I'd seen it all in football, but I still can't work out just why two referees thought that was a penalty. What am I missing ?

Now there's 2 of us. We're marginally better than we were against Malta but unfortunately N Mak ain't Malta. Having said that we were edging it until the dreaded VAR intervened to create a pen out of nothing. The Maguire cockup earlier was more of a pen. Grealish is our only creative player having the cojones to take on and beat a defender.

Nothing that Stones, Maddison and Bellingham couldn't put right, but without those three we are nowhere near as good as we thought we were are we. And if Gareth still thinks that the best place for Raheem Sterling is sat at home on his settee, he's an ever bigger clown than I thought he was.

Dion Dublin. Harry Maguire. The match referee.

A perfect storm to ruin a Tuesday evening.

I agree, I've just paid retail price for 5 pints to watch a load of rubbish, I should have stayed in and nailed my head to the wall, it would have been cheaper and less painfull.

Back to the drawing board in the search for Rice's partner, AA isn't the answer, and Sterling for Rashford is a no-brainer. I'll be intrigued to read tomorrow what the Gareth fanboys in the media have to say about this latest piss poor performance. It won't be Gareth's fault, that's for sure.

It wasn’t quite a shocker in Skopje but it was not far off. Watkins was largely anonymous but received little service. Lewis was unlucky to concede a very dubious penalty but Maguire on the other hand was very lucky earlier not to concede one after giving the ball away and then flattening an opponent as he tried hamfootedly to make up for his error. He will nevertheless have earned further loyalty points with Gareth. For me Grealish tippytoes down the left wing rather too often only to then pass back towards the half way line. Bellingham was sorely missed.

I hope the lad who young Rico almost decapitated makes a full recovery.
