    BFC Director Of Football.

Barnsley Football Club is delighted to be bringing to market, via our retained partners, MRKT Insights and Football Careers, the position of Director of Football.

In this exciting, newly created post, we are looking for a candidate who will work with the board to continue their plan of operating a sustainable, community-focussed football club, driven by analytical processes and data-informed decision making.

Reporting to the board of the football club you will:

Represent the club and the community it serves by operating in a friendly, positive, and professional manner at all times.
Be a committed and visible presence at the stadium and club offices, mentoring and developing the club staff.
Encourage and support the use of analytics and data across the club.
Negotiate incoming and outgoing transfers and player contract offers.
Work with the Heads of department to further improve all aspects of the club. You will support the men’s and women’s coaching teams, youth academy, recruitment, sports science, and medical services departments.
Work with the existing coaches to create and implement a game model and coaching methodology to be used across the club.
You will be responsible for ensuring the vision is implemented on the grass and monitoring and refining the processes over time.
Innovate, taking inspiration from the best of what can be learned from clubs around the world and turning those ideas into solutions the club can use to outperform our budget.
Perform any adhoc duties as deemed appropriate by the club
In addition, you will lead the culture and success of the club going forward. You will be an excellent communicator with the ability to influence and build meaningful relationships. The opportunity to make a real difference and further build the clubs off-field structure exists for the best individual.

Don’t say owt about experience and success in professional football at a playing and administrative level.
Surely that’s what we are missing.

This job has been tailor made for Nudge who will immediately introduce the " Nudger Way " as a style for our players to adopt , not sure what exactly this style would produce but I believe it would be to leave out all our better players like Styles , Williams, Kane , Cole & replace them with up & coming players from the 8 th tier such as Shepherd etc , tell us all they are quality & if they fail blame the manager & even if we did well & we got promotion he would sack the manager , interesting times ahead methinks when our Nudge takes charge .

    It’s abart time.
Something that I’ve noticed for some time one or two on here have been calling for.

It needs to be a well known footballer.
Someone that younger players - especially potential signings admire and look up to.

Interesting to see the involvement with potential transfers listed in the job application info.

We were led to believe that this is the role of the CEO.
Or is it - as I’ve long suspected - that the CEO isn’t hitting their transfer targets ???
So did the question I asked at the supporters meeting hit a nerve ?

The question being - we are led to believe the recruitment team target potential signings for each position - and for each position 3 players are identified and placed into categories A, B and C.
With A being the preferred option.
What percentage of category A players does Khaled sign ???

    Cue - gasp of audience
Followed by some nervous ‘how dare he ask that’ tittering.

The job description seems an odd combination of roles.

Is this in addition to a CEO or instead of ?

Genius James fits bits of the role.

Dane Murphy ( and Melissa) fit a number of the roles.

I'm struggling to think of an ex footballer who knows what is needed at the club football wise but can handle all the other roles.

Shads is right. Only Nudge fits all the criteria. Ladies and Gentlemen, I have the great pleasure in introducing the new Barnsley FC Director of Football--Young Nudger.

Nudger apart, the success of the role depends on who gets it. It could all go t1ts up or it could be the best thing to happen at BFC since the Arseoyle's transfer window. Hold on a God damn minute--that's it--Paul Conway for Director of Football.

An admittance of the total failure of not only the clubs so called model but the incompetent non entities playing FIFA in the shadows , little rich boys have to do something to pass the time I suppose .

It should have happened when the plan was rolled out under Patrick Cryne but blood is thicker than water I suppose even if Patrick did tell a string of pork pies at a fans meeting when he denied his son had any involvement in recruitment , well apart from highlighting players using analytics but other than that .....!! .

It should definitely have happened when the new ownership strolled in to town , they knew even less about football than Patrick did and have lowered that bar even further .

So with Rome burning and thick black smoke bellowing towards the Mediterranean and the horse long since bolted we've decided to get ourselves a stable door .

This particular Stable Door was called for on this board 7 years ago and mentioned at regular intervals , generally when we've trashed a decent team in the transfer market and replaced them with inferior players who've had us relegated with two or three actually making something of themselves .

So the new Director Of Football will walk in to a shyte show , sorry pal but that's why they've created the role , hmmm for you to fix .

First job get rid of the dross , most of the summer recruits then or loan them out to a level they'll adjust to , that would be The National League .... North or South , take your pick , do well and you never know , Woking or Solihull Moors might take you back even though it's a level higher .

Second job , send Little Rich Boy packing and get some proper scouts in , this is a multi million pound business that sits at the heart of this town and it's fans are it's heart n soul , this is real life buddy , go play your games and idle away your days somewhere else , preferably Monaco or Bermuda .

Thirdly , if a wacky women from New York wants to give you some advice tell her your a football professional and not in the rag trade .

Fourthly , The chairman admits he knows nowt abart football so you'll probably be alright in that respect , don't buy any shares of him though , they are worth about as much as crypto currency from Hex.Com these days .

If you manage all the above you might have half a chance , dance to this lot's tune and you'll be the fall guy , your fault , that's why they've hired you .

They've fecked up that many times now even they've started to notice , which is a feat in its self .

Theres nothing in the job description that says they will have the final say on OUTGOING transfers…….. its a given that anyone making a million will be sold at any time….wether they can take us up, keep us up or not.
