I bet Alf was deeply impressed with the attempt by Burnley to play out from the back this evening?
Don't know why this "style" has quite suddenly become popular, but I've seen more goals conceded unnecessarily and without real merit on the part of the offence via this stupidity in such a short time than I've had hot breakfasts.
Defo a risk attached to using the tactic, particularly against sides
using the high-intensity pressing game into nullifying it.
There are many forms of tactical reason why playing out from the back can be advantage but all Europe's leagues have adopted it as its stat-status figures suggest the tactic does produce a better quality of service into "technical" front players movement patterns required from it.
Most European Coaches are bought up on it too, as are its players via youth development academies.
Not great to watch but safer than cut & thrust dynamics of faster plays some may suggest. Also keepers today are more instrumental too & maybe their long high delivered clearances are deemed less secure in retaining possession plus we have the scenario of less heading of the ball in games to reduce possible long term brain injuries.
I note you termology of using the word "offense" instead of attack, your getting very trendy tactics wise - to much $exy football Farke wise, me thinks.😉
Goalkeeper rule no. 1. Stop the ball going in the back of the net.
Goalkeeper rule no. 2. Kick it over the halfway line.
There are no other rules.
You started pretty well against City in terms of performance if not result - had the team lost confidence due to results?
H...A young squad not played together much, our top striker out with depression. Too many mistakes ,confidence low. Top Winger out for most of season now injured ..Will need to re-group in the championship next season ..Can't see anything but at least a three goal loss at Brighton today.
