Thread: Superleague

I honestly can’t see how it would help these ‘big clubs’…

Yes, they get a shed load more money, but will they pay off their £Bn debts? Will they spend it wisely? No!!!

They’ve already proven they can’t be trusted. The more money they get, the more they’ll waste on inflated transfer fees, wages and agents, keeping the clubs in as much debt as they’re in now.

They think the extra income will save them, look at Chelsea, £1bn later and they’ve moved backwards - these 7-8 year contracts crippling them for seasons to come. Although Boehly will welcome the guaranteed income he thought he had when buying the club.

Man Utd - £1bn in debt, will they clear it? Or will they spend it to try to keep up… they’ve already issued a statement saying they won’t join - they can’t afford to be the worst club in the ‘best’ league.

Man City… Probably the club that need it before they get kicked out the Prem. I have this feeling that as much as Everton fans feel hard done by, that was just the Prem setting the precedent for the types of punishments they want to mete out.

PSG already seem to be abandoning its Galacticos, while Real Madrid have restarted theirs, probably with the promise of this new league to give them the money to sustain it. And Barcashould be declared bankrupt!!

The Italian giants are corrupt to the core and you can expect them to be no different.

Let them go, let them burn through their cash. But absolutely do not let them remain in their current domestic leagues. UEFA and FIFA need to make a stand. Yes they lose some big boys, but it evens out the playing field by getting rid of the financial cheats they’re to scared to reign in… I know, they’re not exactly squeaky clean themselves .

Yes, these clubs have the right to choose their own path, UEFA and FIFA don’t own football or these clubs.

But they licence the federations and these clubs sign their pieces of paper and take their moneys!

If they want to play in another league, then that league is going to need a governing body, and beware the 50 other clubs that try to follow the big boys because there will be one unholy pterodactyl sized crap landing on their heads when the big boys want more money and more rights.

For all their faults, UEFA has football and its fans at heart. The super league only cares about money.

Unless the clubs get to register more than 25 players, it’s still limiting who can go play in that league anyway… and do it right, those players should not be allowed to play in FIFA competitions - how many are going to forsake the chance to represent their country at a World Cup?

And if UEFA and and the National Football Associations stop them playing in domestic competitions, there’ll be one trophy to fight for a season! No consolation prize of an FA or League cup.

If it happens, I can see there being two codes of football…

    The real football, and
exhibition football… cheerleaders, fireworks, half time concerts, games at neutral grounds (Saudi, Qatar, States)… 11 substitutions a match, game split in to quarters for more advertising, extra points for bigger wins, and double points last 4 games of the season.

After all that, I could be wrong

Far as I can see theres only 2 teams in Europe that are keen. Barca and Madrid.

Let anyone who wants to join go with a smile....with no way back.

There will soon be another big 6 to replace them and we can forget the greedy bs'tard teams. Good luck to their fans forking out for all the away trips. Won't happen.

The clubs will die on their rses with no fans.

Think Juve as well, they've never formally moved away from the old proposal like others.

Teams will stay in their own domestic leagues and this new competition is to rival the Champions League.. so midweek games in a 3 tier league system..

It'll never get off the ground to be fair.. If it does it'll be littered with maybe Real Madrid, Barcelona who are still interested in Super league.. then just random teams that don't make the Champions League who want European Football

It could be, but imagine this scenario:

There are, say, Real and Barcelona and bunch of teams like West Ham, Lyon, Stuttgart, Rome, some teams from major cities but with weak leagues - Wien, Prague etc - any city with huge commercial potential.
In a season or two they get hundreds of millions from Superleague and step by step overtake their rivals in domestic competitions.

I mean 5-6 top clubs (barca, real, juve and few other) make superleague, then superleague make other 10 top-clubs out of average one.
