    I'd say that I agree most pro golfers are fit but they're not athletes like pro footballers. Likewise the amateurs at both sports tend not to be athletes.

    Surely you understand that training for a footballer takes significantly more effort, is significantly more specialised, targets significantly more areas of fitness and performance and requires significantly more rest time than practise for a golfer does? It also doesn't end at the end of training for footballers as they then have to think about things such as how they eat and when they eat. Golfers don't have a requirement to reach close to the same level of athleticism and control that footballers and other athletes do so maybe they have more time and energy to try to improve their game?
    Professional footballers should be practicing to ensure that they can shoot with both feet rather than only being able to shoot for goal with their favoured foot.
    You also get amateur golfers who practice their faults on the practice ground.
