Swansea v Morecambe (FA Cup Third Round)

Swansea v Morecambe (FA Cup Third Round) Sat 6 Jan 17:30
It’s that time of year and it’s FA Cup time again. The draw has been kind to us for a change with a home tie against a lower league team. The Shrimps of Morecambe are located on the Lancashire coast some 19 miles as the crow flies from Blackpool, and it’s the first time we’ve played them.
They were relegated from League One last season after two seasons there. They are presently languishing in 17th place in League Two and are not in great form.
With our new manager in place there should be plenty of interest in this game to boost attendance, tempered by the change to an odd kick-off time on a Saturday night instead of the usual 3pm.
I know the FA Cup is a great leveller and it won’t be an easy game but if we can’t beat a team from the lower leagues at home we don’t deserve to go through to the next round. See you there.

Well we made hard work of that against a resilient and determined team.
To be fair there were 11 changes to our starting line-up and fringe players were given a chance.
The main thing is we won and go through to the next round.

They came to defend deep and hit us on the break. Their tactics worked but they were blunt up front.
Our patience was key and paid off in the end as we wore them down.
On to the next round, I fancy Spurs away and a share of the big gate money to boost the transfer kitty.
