Arsenal recall is bad news for Motherwell

Arsenal has ended Mika Biereth's loan spell with Motherwell just days before the end of the winter break. - External Link

Very disappointing and makes an uphill struggle to retain our top flight status much harder unless our recruitment team can really pull off some remarkable deals to get quality players in from somewhere. Saturdays game v Alloa also becomes harder and it will be interesting to see what the attitude of our players will be like should we go behind. Challenging times.

IMO. the current pool of players without Biereth and Slattery, Millar has us going in one direction, and that is relegated to the Championship. Where we are likely to be for a good few years. We have to get players in who will give us a chance of staying up and have possibly fought in relegation battles before. We cannot just sign players to increase the player pool numbers who have had very little game time or have been injury prone at their current clubs. We are now in a huge battle not just for our position this season but IMO the future of our very club.

This is just yet another hammer blow in this dire season for us.

Relegation is now a distinct possibility because the squad simply isn’t good enough and SK cannot be trusted to bring in adequate replacements before the end of this window.

The above post about us being in a fight for the future of the club is sadly spot on. We have been run in a shambolic, amateurish tinpot manner for 18 months now and relegation would, imo, see us forced to go part time.

Recalled given how poor Motherwell are doing... if instead competing for 3rd or 4th I doubt Arsenal would have made this change. They clearly feel that Biereth is too good to be playing in this team.

There's absolutely nothing to suggest we would go part-time in the event of relegation, at least for the foreseeable.

We'll win tomorrow, a good draw for the next round will lift the spirits... but agree, there's no doubt our top-flight status hanging by a thread on the next two weeks.

We've been in this situation before of course but whether that gives confidence we'll survive again or say eventually our luck will run out I dunno!
