    1st signing - Alfie Harrison

Newcastle United have agreed a deal with Manchester City to sign highly-rated midfield talent Alfie Harrison for an undisclosed fee.
The 18-year-old English prospect has excelled for City at academy level and Newcastle have moved to secure his services.
Harrison is expected to undergo a medical in the coming days ahead of completing the proposed move on a long-term contract.

    He's played 10 games, scored 8 goals for them - in U23s

    Natural left-footer and highly rated.

This is a good move I think, although we could do with someone to come in now. . . although Miley did, so hopefully he can if needed.

Apperently we sold him a gameplan to the first team etc.

I would post the article but it's paywall

Was just reading something about him. Initially you'd think 'ah, if he was any good, they wouldn't let him go' but look at Cole Palmer. Think it frees up money because of ffp although I don't know how much we paid for him?

But also if he wants to go and has made it clear he want - not worth hanging on for them really.

I'm actually pretty pleased about this one.

His contract is up in the summer, so if City were to earn a few bob it was now or never. Not that they need it.

Don’t think you can compare it to the Palmer sale which freed up a squad space for City to bring in other players.

Hope he’s got potential, maybe we will see him in the first team soon with JoeL out until May.

Not sure why you say ‘not that they need it’? We shouldn’t be contemplating selling players but that’s FFP for you.
Chelsea buy anything that has 2 legs, Klippity complains then breaks the bank - it’s easy to see what’s happening. Sporting integrity in football has gone.

Don't know whether to be happy or ANGRY over this! If he cost us peanuts, then Alfie is worth a punt for the future, but right now, we really need players that can either start, or come off the bench and play a role.

I'm beginning to wonder whether we are throwning in the towel now? Basically play anybody, hope we pick up enough points to stay above 17th and avoid the drop, then do a massive clear-out of players for cash, and hope our wretched FFP improves by August?

Can be something like “Eddie, if we sign midfielder and striker, you’re confident for top-5 finish? No? Then we’ll do it in summer”
