Yep I remember him, he was a good un, we had a defence of Mailey, Lowry, Leigh, Stott, Barnes, Gannon. Used to roll off the tongue seemed like those 6 played together for year's!! My dad used to see him at the ground before matches said he was a great bloke. Sorry he's not well hope he gets better soon!!

Yes, I recall him well and some fans don't like some of us talking about those olden days but these were players that I admired greatly at the time and also enjoyed us playing tranmere away many times and it used to be when all fans mixed together and I had some great conversations with tranmere fans at the time. Some say football has progressed since those days. I don't think it has myself but that is just my personal opinion. I think fans mixing was a great thing but there are too many idiots around now that makes that impossible now. I hope Mick gets well as we are all knocking on a bit now and I will send him a get well card in the next few days. I hope tranmere start playing well again soon. Eric Barnes used to live near me but he passed on quite a few years back now.

I remember him well. As terrierstan says he was part of that defence that was automatic. No 'squads/groups' then. He could 'look after himself' as well. Send him the club's supporter's best wishes.

Ditto from me, I hope that you get well soon Mick. You're correct about that defence rolling off the tongue Terrierstan, infact it is so ingrained in my memory I have used the names as part of some of my Internet passwords!

Agree with you 100% - I think Mick would have enjoyed playing against him
