Club seeking feedback regarding matchday playlist

Rotherham United are seeking feedback from supporters to ensure that we play our part in helping to create the best possible atmosphere on home matchdays at AESSEAL New York Stadium.

We have enjoyed some fantastic days and nights since the stadium opened back in 2012 in the company of some truly electric crowds and with Leam Richardson and the lads battling for their place in the Sky Bet Championship, we want to canvass fan opinion to try and reach those decibel levels again.

We are opening the forum to supporters to feed back on what kind of music they would like to hear in and around the stadium and whether they would work with us to try and implement a ‘club anthem’ that would be partially played out over the PA system and then continued in the stands before the whistle blows for kick off.

Rotherham United is YOUR club and we want it to feel that way on matchdays.

As we’re sure you’ll understand, music tastes vary massively from person-to-person and we will be using feedback from the survey to try and create a matchday experience that caters for everyone, whilst remaining current and ultimately, having the desired effect of ‘lifting’ the mood before first team matches. Beyond that, we would like to reaffirm that any music that we do play on matchdays must be family friendly and not include lyrics which contravene our club values.

Once we have collated the information from the form submissions, we will work through them to establish the most popular choices of matchday music which will automatically be incorporated into the playlist, before running a subsequent poll to allow fans to decide on their final choices from the shortlisted tracks for a potential pre-match anthem.

Ultimately, we understand that performances on the pitch play are largely responsible for a creating a positive mood on the terraces, but we want to be proactive in our approach to setting that tone before the match gets under way to give Leam and the lads the best possible environment in which to perform.

We also appreciate that topics such as Safe Standing and a ‘singing section’ have been voiced by supporters and conversations behind-the-scenes will continue as we explore their feasibility – albeit these are not aspects we can incorporate into our matchday experience mid-season.

As always, we would like to thank you for taking the time to work with us and we hope that together we can ensure a feel-good factor around AESSEAL New York Stadium before each and every home fixture.

Viewed almost 1800 times already, I wonder what the music choices may well be? It would be great to hear our fans singing our own anthem so to speak. A lot of other clubs have their traditional ones like Liverpool and Never walk alone so what would be our tune and why?

I'm all for getting behind the lads, and being the 12th Man/women or child.

    I'm personally happy with,
    New York New York.

    I also like Millermen.

I hope the connection with the club to fans continues.

Brilliant song mate, playing it now

Don't think I could dance like that though in North stand.

I'd get rid of the Frank sinatra song for starters.. dull song may have been good in its day . But that day has gone about 40 years ago ... Alicia keys new York song . Is perfect.. a concrete jungle where dreams are made of ...more in touch with the younger fans .
