Thread: Loan watch...

    Loan watch...

We have so many players currently out on loan I thought it might be a good idea to track a few and see how they are doing.

Zaroury hit the bar inside 5 minutes of his Hull City debut and the rebound was banged home to give the Tigers a 1-0 home win over the Lions.

Where did Samuel Bastien end up?

Bastien went to Kasimpasa in Turkey, 3 sub appearances, one start for a total of 142 minutes, out injured since October 8th.

I had a look at Bridtol City v Leeds last Friday to see how Twine and Roberts got on, neither were even on the bench so that was a waste of time.

The ALK/Pace MO is not flawless mon ami, Sammy is evidence enough of that.

I've lost count of how many times you have said on here buying any player is a gamble.

I still think the VK/ALK combo is on the right side in terms of player quality and value though sinkov.

It's reported Wet Spam are already sniffing around Odobert.

That's surprising given their experience with Max.

This is the first tranche of signings under the buy 'em cheap, improve 'em, sell 'em on at a profit scheme.

    Twine
    Egan Riley
    McNally
    Bastien
    Cullen
    Muric
    Vitinho
    Benson
    Churlinov
    Franchi
    Zaroury
    Al Dakhil
    Ekdal
    Foster

They've all had 12-18 months to show what they can do, over half of them can be written off already, the jury is still out possibly on Foster and Al Dakhil, but right now there is no serious money to be made on that list, break even is the best we can hope for. It does not bode well imo.

With the exception of Foster most of the names on the list were bought for peanuts:
Twine - The Robins want to buy him.
Egan Riley - Cost us next to nowt.
McNally - The Potters want to buy him.
    Bastien - ?
Cullen - Good in the Championship.
Muric - Need to move him on I reckon.
Vitinho - Do One Airlines awaits.
Benson - We should have loaned him for a fee, opportunity missed I reckon.
Churlinov - Schalke want to keep him.
Franchi - Did we get a fee?
Zaroury - Who knows what July will bring?
Al Dakhil - We must be making big bucks on this lad.
    Ekdal - See Cullen.
Foster - Reported somewhere a £15 million fee was mentioned in January.

Not all doom & gloom mon ami.

This MO is supposed to be funding a team capable of top 10 in the PL, Brighton has been the example mentioned, but Brighton have raked in at least £300 million in the last couple of seasons. As you say, those signings have cost us peanuts, and right at this moment that's all we'd get for selling them, we're a million miles away from making this work financially, all it's doing is putting us back in the Championship. It does not bode well imo.

It got us out of the Championship with ease mon ami. The EPL is a different kettle of fish altogether but we all knew that already.
