Quite impressive, imagine this down by the Tyne.

Mmmm...I do like a bit of stadium porn and that is certainly going to be impressive.

Still pinning my hopes on the architects coming up with a solution for the East Stand, though.

I hope we do get a new stadium..

I love St James Park but I do feel that we need to move on with the times and evolve

Can they not just flatten SJP and build a new state of the art stadium in the same place? I’d prefer they just upgrade’s what we have as I say before I don’t trust the Saudis they could up and leave at any time.

I've been watching both builds of Everton's stadium and the Liverpool extension by watching the youtube channel, Mr Drone UK. He gives a good insight into the builds from start to finish.

It would be great to think we could stay put and try to modernise what we have, it’s the home of Newcastle United.

But, I think we’d just be getting left behind, and end up looking enviously at these new stadiums other clubs are investing in.

The days of your flat pack, soulless stadia like the Reebok stadium and the Stadium of ****e are over.

There’s some incredible sporting arenas out there and the thought of what we could end up with makes me think it’s best to say ‘thanks for the past, but let’s make ourselves future proof’.

Yes, the Saudi’s, like any other owner could up and leave at any time. I’m not going to have a problem if their legacy is a state of the art stadium not only the country looks enviously at, but the world.

Let’s face it, there’s no better owners to invest than what we have now.

Increased capacity, visiting sports and other events, have a stadium that anyone and everyone wants to be in, might even get a heavy weight boxing clash thrown our way - although not sure how golf would work :-)

But I reckon sponsors would be tripping over each other to get the naming rights and to have their brand around the stadium, modern corporate's facilities could bring a premium.

A new stadium is not just about somewhere to play football, it’s about maximising our commercial potential, by diversifying our income streams.

I think I need to get off the fence and choose one or the other

Yes, they could. But why would they? They stuck with their buyout of NUFC for a long time, despite Ashley's silly games.
I really believe that they see this as a hugely profitable investment. That's what the PIF is all about, I guess.
It cost bunce to buy, but offers a terrific return.
If they turn our club into the best in the Premier League, and sometime Champions League winners, then they own a huge asset for comparatively little investment.
So far, its working great for them. Nobody expected Champions League this year, but that has demonstrated the potential big time.
OK, this season hasn't been as good as it could - mainly through injuries and too much pressure on a paper-thin squad. But, as I see it, the long-term project is very much on track.
I doubt if the Saudis see Newcastle as anything else but the new Man City in terms of performance. Plus the new Man Utd in terms of marketing opportunities.

I know, I'm far too much of an optimist. Always was.
But I think I'm right this time...........

Changed my mind!!!! I’m in the city now and you can hear that crowd… keep what we have… just make the seats smaller and cram more Geordies in

The stadium can’t be anywhere else

Compromise, new stadium… same location, play home games in someone’s back garden for 2 seasons… just let’s not share Stadium of Sh!te

New York is giving The Buffalo Bill's NFL team 850 Million Dollars for a new stadium, 2 days after announcing a 800 Million Dollar cut to Children and family services. Terry Pegula the owner of the Buffalo Bill's is worth over 7 Billion Dollars. Disgusting, Man Utd want Manchester Council to do the same thing,

Extending SJP is not only difficult due to Leazes Terrace, but also that even if we could extend the stand it doesn’t give us much room for commercial revenue generating business in the stadium … so extending or rebuilding on the same spot (though god knows where we would play if we did) isn’t going to really give our income a massive boost and would have a hard limit on the the amount of seats we could add too.

Look at Spurs new ground… they have bars and restaurants in there and now their match day is the 3rd highest in Europe (behind PSG and Barca).

If we are going to break the FFP stranglehold and genuinely compete we’re going to have to make some hard decisions… and if we could move to an 80,000 seater stadium, with more season tickets available, bars and restaurants, and likely more hospital seats (how do you think PSG make so much), then that is a massive step in the right direction.

It took Spurs 2 years to build their stadium when started, we’d need the land, plans and planning permission before we could even start… so we are talking upto 3 seasons to get a new stadium… and another season to see the increase in revenue come in so we can go and spend that.

Personally I’d miss SJP where it is but if we want to compete financially, so we can compete on the pitch, I think we need to do it… and the sooner the trigger is pulled the better.

As it stands, infrastructure is not covered under FFP… I wouldn’t put it past the ba$tards to change that to stop clubs developing revenue to compete in the future.
