Not wrong Corberan is the jewel in the porridge that is the Albion under Lai.
Assuming he’s sensible enough to keep Corberan AND to give him a new and more lucrative contract…….the most important thing on the agenda has got to be to suss out the next Dan Ashworth and completely revamp our recruitment department.
I would actually be approaching Ashworth to ask for advice on this.
When you consider his body of work with Albion, Brighton and now Newcastle, he is without question, the sharpest tool in the box in this regard.
In the same way that many NFL coaches and general managers ( head of recruitment at each NFL club ) work, the best and the most legendary coaches have a “tree” of GM’s and top coaches who fly their nest and become legends in their own right at other teams.
Dan will know the bright young sparks, I’m sure he’d give a leg up to the club who gave him his start and where his own son plays.
There has to be new saplings at Brighton and Newcastle who are chomping at the bit to speak their wings.
I’d also be looking at Brentford, Ipswich and other lower level clubs who have the business model that we aspire to.
This coming off season we need to see Albion raiding the lower divisions and clubs of less stature than ours for their young gems and also bringing in foreign youngsters.
So for me, head of recruitment and a clear and defined plan which we can all buy into emotionally is first and foremost for our great club.
Not wrong Corberan is the jewel in the porridge that is the Albion under Lai.
Absolutely. I hope he has the humility to not want to control everything and everyone. He won’t know better than Corberan about football period. The way the Wrexham ownership was done was brilliant. “We have the money now who’s best to spend it” is the only sensible way to run a club. Birmingham city’s owners got rid of a good manager straight away and replaced with what they thought was best. Clowns.
Absolutely spot on!!!!
Ask Ashworth has got to be worth that phone call & get a recruitment team that looks down & across the leagues for young hungry and athletic guys who want to play for our beloved Baggies!!!-& let's hope the new owner sees it too and gets rid of the boardroom dross so we get a new dynamic outlook from the very top.
AND KEEP CORBERAN, PALMER & FELLOWS!!
BUILD THE BAGGIES BACK BETTER!!! COYB COYB COYB COYB
Absolutely 100% agree.
One thing that did cross my mind (very randomly) was whether this guy watched the moneyball film with Brad Pitt in - if no-one has then I'd recommend it. Its essentially the model Brentford went down. They both look massively at statistics and data for their incomings.
And they buy players, to improve the team, to sell on for the highest profit and use the profit to further invest in new players who again can improve and sell on for even higher profit. Create a cycle where the team is performing on the pitch and being renumerated off it, simply by playing the market. For that though, recruitment has to be absolutely top tier like the clubs you have mentioned.
Kipre new contract has to be high up there
Thanks Q.
I still read the forum and kept up with proceedings.
Sometimes over the years, I do take weeks and months away from it just to refresh.
Glad all the regulars seem to be fit and well, as is Des even though he no longer posts.
He lost his mum of 94 a couple of weeks ago.
