Remember the SNP formed their motion in the clear knowledge and foresight that none of the other parties could support their motion in particular the part which claimed the Israelis were conducting 'collective punishment ' on the Palestinian people which is a designated war crime. Their motion was far less about trying to solve the Gaza problem than causing maximum chaos in parliament and discomfort to the Labour party that could have had as many as 100 MPs voting with the SNP . That would have triggered more Labour front bench sackings and resignations.

The machinations of Parliament are archaic and quirky but the real issue here is that all yesterday's nonsense was party political posturing. The SNP motion was provocative, mischievous even but hadn't a cat in hell's chance of passing. Neither would Labour's in normal circumstances because, even with a few dissentions on the Tory side the Irish politicians were supporting the Tory amendment. Remember also that any motion passed like the one sort of passed yesterday are advisory only and would simply be ignored by the Government. Even the Government policy, whatever it is, will be ignored by Israel so just political posturing all round as much on the SNPs part as any other party.
Yeah I'm sure the Israeli PM was sitting waiting on his instruction from the UK parliament. 🙄

We have political pygmies in this parliament and yet they think the world hangs on their every word.

That could easily be avoided if the leadership of Iran was overturned in a coup with them being replaced by a moderate government having free elections and not supporting every terrorist group in the Middle East and beyond.
Countries like Syria would also have free elections as their leadership would no longer be propped up by Iran and Putin would no longer be able to use Syria as a base for his navy etc.
We would get a new world order and there would no need for illegal immigrants to come to Europe as everything would be stable in their countries.
Even if all you wish for in your post were to happen which of course they won't the illegal immigrants would still come. The vast majority are economic migrants looking for a better life either by working for it in better western jobs or much more likely looking for hand outs which our country is very good at as opposed to keeping them out in the first place.
The only way to stop them coming here is effective measures to stop them getting in in the first place, repatriation or removal to another place and stopping the hand outs, housing etc. that we lavish on them. None of this, of course, will happen either.

That's it in a nutshell. If the Israelis are ignoring the Americans they sure are going to ignore us too.
