    Giving up on top 6

    Why?

Hopefully hearts beat Hibs midweek which would leave us going into final half dozen games 2 pts clear.

Winning 4 of the 6 is a big ask but if we did Hibs would really need to win 5.....an even bigger ask.

I think we can do it.

Inconsistency, top six is looking dodgy because of it.

We have never been favs to get in, last few weeks bookies have always had us finishing 7th or 8th.....for a cple of days we were same price as Aberdeen to finish 6th.

It's not an unexpected defeat today, neither will defeat in midweek be but if Hibs lose to hearts I think we have as much chance as Aberdeen and Hibs.

Our home form is very good......I think we can do it. 🤞

Hopefully it would be great if we could finish in the top 6 at the split but apart from the higher payout for finishing 6th at the end of season I cannot see it being a money spinner.
By my calculations we will have played Rangers and Hearts twice at home by the spilt and Celtic only once.
However if Celtic have little or no chance of winning the league their supporters will probably not bother attending away matches resulting in a greatly reduced drop in away ticket sales.

It's not particularly but finishing 6th gives you the chance to finish 5th which potentially is a massive money maker.

You're right that the Celtic supporters may not bother attending but they will buy them anyway. The Celtic distribution of away tickets to their supporters groups depend on the number available but each group gets a variable amount that they always take up to guarantee their status/place to receive tickets for future games around Scotland. Rangers are the same and it has been like this for many a year.
With three home games projected beyond the split barring any 'adjustments' if the top six bottom six fixture split goes 'wrong' we would have Celtic at home and theoretically the other two sides fighting for the second and third European places. Assuming Killie remain in the top six we would be due to play them away. There is a long way to go before worrying about the make up of the post split fixtures but perhaps more than in recent seasons there is the possibility of a bit of a mess due depending on the make up of the top six. We for one, at least, are not one of the projected top six clubs that would balance out the post split fixtures.

    You are correct.
When the SPFL draw up their fixture list for each Premier League season they try to ‘second guess’ the teams are likely to finish in the top six after 33 games.
I remember being at a post split home game against Kilmarnock in May 2017.
During the second half the attendance figure was announced which included 97 Kilmarnock supporters at the game.

Think that we need to have something to play for in the post split games. the whole idea was to stop "meaningless mid table games for teams with nothing to play for"

Meaningless mid table games towards the end of the season was an ideal time to give young players who had been playing in the reserve team the opportunity to play in the first team.
Now young players are sent on loan and sometimes never heard of again as their first professional contract is not renewed.

But it's not like that now.
