Club Bring in ' Ringers ' to Help End Unbeaten Teams Record Run

    Central Midlands League

Central Midlands league side Doncaster City brought in 3 ringers to help the club beat
unbeaten side Dearne & District 3-1.

The 3 players were brought in the day before the game, the 3 players are -

37 year-old former Scottish International centre-back Charlie Mulgrew, main former teams
    Celtic & Blackburn Rovers.

37 year-old former Scottish International striker Ross McCormack, main former team
Cardiff City, Leeds United & Fulham FC.

41 year-old former Republic of Ireland International midfielder Wes Hoolahan, main former
    team Norwich City.

Dearne & District chairman Antonio Jamasb said, " Doncaster signing those players isn't
against the rules, & it is what it is ".
Adding, " We should have got something out of the game ".

Dearne & District now sit seven points clear of Doncaster City, with Doncaster City having
    two games in hand.

When City eventually play Rovers, will it be the Donkey derby?

Well you could not make it up -

The crunch game Doncaster City 3-1 Dearne & District, was played at Armthorpe Welfare ground,
the home ground of Doncaster City.
The game attracted 800 spectators, in which was a 50-50 turn out in supporters.

But it turned out that £400 in fake notes was used to gain entry at the turnstiles & used at the bar,
then after the game 7 footballs were stolen.
Armthorpe Welfare lose out, because they keep the bar takings.
Doncaster City have issued warnings to other non-league clubs.

Haha nice one jocks, but it was only 2 seasons ago that Hoolahan played for Cambridge at our place and ran the show even though we won. UTM

The club is all the brainchild of football agent Willie McKay…I will say no more..!….other than good to see Ross mc was able to open his electric gates at his home so he could get to the game…!..

As Clarkey says this is the brainchild of Willie Mckay and his agent son Mark. They are building a football development centre at their former race horse training complex just outside Bawtry. The plan is to use the centre to develop young footballers discarded by academies and get them re-intergrated back into the game. They have already started to build the centre by converting the large indoor horse training barn into an indoor all weather football training centre. TS take note and get on the phone.

As part of their plan they need to get Doncaster City as high up the football pyramid as they can as quickly as possible so they can give their academy lads exposure to mens footbal at a good level.

In the Central Midlands league you are free to sign players as long as they are registered the day before a game, the players mentioned are not "ringers" they are fully registered to play.

Willie McKay has two sons who were both discarded by academies, so he knows well how difficult it is for young players to get back into football. I am sure he is hoping to make a financial killing on a few players who he places with league clubs but there is actually some merit in his plans.
