    Albion’s MSD loan….

    Is still in place apparently.

I am a bit surprised by this even though A4A are brushing this news off.

I would’ve expected that Patel would start with a completely clean slate, even from a PR perspective that would’ve been a better thing to have done.

All businesses tend to have a certain amount of borrowing, I accept that but a new loan with a lower rate of interest would seem to be a better idea.

I accept that he may have negotiated a lower % rate on this existing loan but equally, he may not have.

I for one would like more clarity on this ASAP.

I hope it’s amongst the first questions local media ask Shilen.

Why commit to paying off a loan early when the club has cash flow issues which won't be solved overnight and which would further impact on Profit and Loss in FFP? I haven't got a business brain so please excuse me if I've just asked a stupid question 😇 .

    A couple of points 68.

The MSD loan had an eye watering level of interest attached to it, it would be cheaper to take out a new loan to pay off MSD unless the terms of the MSD loan have been renegotiated as I mentioned in my initial post.

Clarity on that is required in my opinion.

To me as a business person, it is a bit concerning if any owner can only achieve borrowing from a high interest lender.

My other point is really more around the feeling of slight disappointment that our owner doesn’t have the resources to have paid MSD off.

That latter point is me just wishing for a perfect scenario tbh.

As I said initially, most businesses have to borrow and all I would like to know is how much % we are paying MSD?

I must point out, this isn’t the start of my “Patel Out” campaign!😏🤣

Given Lai’s total lack of openness it would be great to hear Shilen speak and give us his plan for the future and clarity on how leveraged the club is likely to be?

He’s posted about it and doesn’t seem fussed Dave.

I’m more interested in knowing if this is a reconstructed loan with new terms or if we are still having our pants pulled down by MSD.

I would expect that our improved situation would normally lead to lenders being willing to lend on better terms.

The MSD loan was like dealing with a loan shark in terms of the % interest rate.

I recall reading online somewhere about the deal having a sticking point around loan repayments but can't find it at this time.
I'll have a peruse later on. But it does need clarification. But no obligation by the new owner to give any.

Very worrying if not paid off! I for one was not quick on saying it’s a new dawn blah blah,! Plus anyone is better than Lai! Really - well there’s an awful lot worse out there!

Personally i have no time for overseas owners which is why clubs like Brentford and Brighton are so well run. Patel speaks a good game but he was looking to buy a football club ( any ) and what do the yanks know about football!

Bit like the film - I want to buy a Zoo!

The guy from A4A on Twitter re the MSD loan...

"If you own a house and have a mortgage, and had the means to pay it off, would you immediately? But we are haemorrhaging money and we need to look after fixing the losses before we think about paying the 'mortgage' off"

I think this makes perfect sense. Patel was the preferred bidder for MSD, and he is more credit worthy than Lai. I'm sure the interest will be renegotiated in the interim,

I was not aware A4A had become the Press Office! Do they know the increase of the steak pies in the East Stand for season 23/24?
