    Totally agree, and as you wrote in your first post, how on earth could Kompany who was a world class central defender want him!? Now there’s a conundrum…

    I think he's a pretty average championship defender who looked good in a Corberan side. You have to question Burnley's recruitment, if they paid anything near the reported £7m for him.

    If you look at the way CC sets us up, we're pretty compact with two holding midfielders in front of a back 4. It means we're never really going to get hammered and any centre back who can read the game and win a header will always look quite good. You're finding that with Kipre and Pieters now, and Bartley when he was in the side. O'Shea looked good for us last season.

    Put any of these defenders in a prem team without much protection and they'll be exposed.
