    Away record upto now

For those who are interested, those who aren't can move along

We know we need to improve at home (hopefully beginning this weekend) but away form has pulled us through during this sticky spell, especially while Docs been out

10 wins from 14 games, hopefully more to come in the 4 left, anyway it's just the 4th time we've ever won 10 or more away league games in a season (excluding those 44 game seasons for obvious reasons), only the 3rd time we've won 9 or more in the second tier (1930/31 & 1959/60) the rest were in top flight

    11 Wins - 1982/83 (18 games)
    10 Wins - 1959/60 (17) 1988/89 (18) 2023/24 (14*)
    9 Wins - 1930/31 (18) 1965/66 (17) 1974/75 (17) 1980/81 (18) 2009/10 (19)

Only collected 14pts in the last quarter after collecting 21pts and then 20pts in the previous two quarters.Someone a while back thought that 72pts would be enough to get top spot. That would mean we would need 17pts in this quarter. 5wins and 2 draws out of 9 games would get us there. Only problem with that would be if one of the losses was to Raith. Might put the cat among the pigeons. Raith’s victories have all been by one goal , likewise their defeats.

Our record each quarter of the season

    (1) W6 D3 L0 F22 A04 Pts 21

    (2) W6 D2 L1 F18 A03 Pts 20

    (3) W4 D2 L3 F11 A10 Pts 14

It is hard to argue with the stats not being impressive for the first 2 quarters. Ironically we are in better position after the 3rd quarter than the 2nd due to Raith Rovers bigger slump. Raith's run where they got these successive late winners was a bit freakish and unsustainable. Had that not happened we would be comfortably skooshing the league.

Its not an easy league to play silky football in and after some hammerings of team early on a lot them got wise to how we play and be hard to break down. And we have had trouble getting to grips with it.
In purely statistical terms and in comparison to previous recent Champions we have been having a good season. Last night we played like a savvy Championship club winning ugly. Hopefully it is a watershed moment going in to last quarter.

Not really what the thread is about, thread is just about our away record and how many away wins we have, it being one of our best ever in that respect, nothing to do with the title race or Raith

However Raith have taken less pts than us from and including the Tannadice meeting until now, scoring 18 conceding 18

The last quarter has pretty much been without Docherty aswell which greatly impacts the team and how we play

Utd are doing what they should be doing and better than many recent winners, it's not been perfect but would usually be clear, Raith have a had great season by their standards but also very unusual season, the period of late winners (including two stoppage time pens to give them wins), the fact all their wins and losses have been by a single goal, the fortune against us in that we have lost our key centre mid the game before we were playing them the last two times, the offside and wonder goal in the recent meeting despite us being easily the better side and there was nothing in the Tannadice meeting

10 away wins from 14 is excellent by any standards or circumstances, just 1 win from the last 4 equals our best ever

Has Ogren told you to put feelers out for groundshare?
Technically we'd be away from Tannadice and playing away every game

Updated with one away game left

    12 Wins - 2023/24 (17*)
    11 Wins - 1982/83 (18 games)
    10 Wins - 1959/60 (17) 1988/89 (18)
    9 Wins - 1930/31 (18) 1965/66 (17) 1974/75 (17) 1980/81 (18) 2009/10 (19)

For the first time in our history, Utd have won 12 away league games in a season

Now I'm not saying he's the messiah or anything but if Goodwin was a clown or as bad as some think (mainly sheep etc) this would not happen regardless of circumstances or level, simply wouldn't, think we need stability, do I think he's great, no but he's done well enough and we badly need stability for 2-3 years, he's signed well generally and players are very much on side

    Agree with that.

    Away record does show character

It would actually be crazy to get rid of JG and make us a laughing stock

He has recruited well and players clearly buy in

He brought on Tillson for Moult when we were 4-1 up,this tells me that I don't want him here next season regardless of whether we win the title. We were always meant to win this piss poor division anyway and should have played every game on the front foot instead of some of the baffling shyte he's come up with. Delighted to be where we are right now but I firmly believe it's despite him and not because of him. We need better for next season.

I am pretty sure that JG won't be at the club next season. I think he will be happy if he wins the league with United and will leave with his head held high, hopefully with a Championship win on his CV. I think next season is likely gonna be an another transitional season...we have a lot of players out of contract and we may well have new owners. I doubt JG wants to risk staying and will be offski to try his hand somewhere elsewhilst his stock is on the rise. Pointless speculating at the moment but I can see us moving quickly, once the league is wrapped up.
