Thread: Away record upto now

Yeah, I totally agree about Watt. I've been very critical of him, especially early in the season, but there is no doubt about it he's stepped up. I think you are right though he always, even now, looks like he could give more. Probably why he's playing in the Scottish Championship for us though.

I thought we turned the corner when we beat Morton away 1-0, then Arbroath 4-0, and played well with docherty back up to speed, and were ready to kick on, but I think the manager then totally derailed the team by reverting to a negative team formation against Dunfermline, and doing nothing to change it, then playing miller-thomson at left back against Inverness when Holt was the obvious choice. The home game against raith seemed to focus the team, manager picked our best team available, and fortunately results have been such that it has been impossible for him to tinker with the team.

Even the tilson sub Friday seemed pointless to me. Get moult off but when you are playing a team playing dog sh1te in their third game in a week, when there is space to exploit, put someone like wetherspoon in who can pick a pass, keep possession. Seems to me counter productive and gives some initiative away to opposition rather than making you more solid, different if you were putting someone with a quality like a gomis on. Small detail after a 4-1 win admittedly.

If Goodwin wins the league he absolutely deserves to be in the job and a decent budget to strengthen.

It is difficult to build a team that wins the league

You need a lot of ingredients

Before we have not had enough toughness in the middle until recruiting butcher, not had a goalscorer until Shankland, not had enough creativity or been sound at the back, not had enough big characters etc

To win matches most weeks is difficult in every league

The team were an absolute mess by the end of last season - precipitated imo by terrible keeper that caused loss of confidence in others and then really unhappy atmosphere, players leaving and being completely disconnected from club

JG has come in and turned it around

His detractors said he couldn’t handle big matches and then he has come in and delivered in last 3 big matches in the league

He signed big Sam Mc at the back which some had criticised before as a waste of time and money as we was not getting a game, not turns out that was a master stroke

I’m not a lover of JG. I think he is a good manager of people and speaks well.

I’d like him to have someone in coaching squad who is a more tactical specialist and a dissenting voice to challenge ideas

Overall winning the league (if it happens) will be a good achievement and if it happens should be celebrated and thanks given to all those that make it happen

Have to agree with LS Arab, a few weeks ago I was shouting for Goodwin to go because I didn’t think we were ever going to show enough bottle to win important games just like at the end of last season, but he has definitely went up in my estimation.

JG arrived at a club who have had 10 managers in10 seasons, a squad full of overpaid sh*tebags, and only a single transfer window to shape a squad to win the 2nd tier. All told he has more than earned the right to another transfer window to have a crack at the top flight.

I can accept that these are valid reasons to keep him on,but he's got to be quicker to learn from mistakes and to adapt to match situations as far as I'm concerned. And if he's got any part of him that intends to keep Tillson for the top flight then he can most definitely GTF.

I'm in the same ball park as ADS, the complete inability or desire to change anything at all during the pars defeat just sounds alarms for me however I'll add the caveat that before the season started I think the majority of us thought we'd be playoffs level at best and JGs recruitment, minus Tillson and Grieve, has been spot on for the budget and circumstances.

He changed the formation at half time and we played far better second half. 🤔
