How many points needed to avoid relegation?

I wonder if the stattos could share how many points we need for safety.

Max pts _ PPG _ Projected

    15. Notts County - 80 __ 1.34 __ 62
    16. Accrington S. - 76 __ 1.28 __ 59
    17. Doncaster Rov - 73 __ 1.19 __ 55
    18. Tranmere Rov - 71 __ 1.19 __ 55
    19. Swindon Town - 71 __ 1.19 __ 55
    20. Salford City - 67 __ 1.08 __ 50
    21. Grimsby Town - 68 __ 1.00 __ 46
    22. Colchester U. - 65 __ 0.91 __ 42
    -------------------------------------------------------
    23. Forest Green - 60 __ 0.83 __ 38
    24. Sutton Utd - 54 __ 0.73 __ 34

FGR are improving under Cotterill so they will probably finish with more than 38, though they do have some tough fixtures and only 4 left at home. Colchester and Sutton don't look like they're going to improve much on 42 and 34 so we should already have enough.

Forest Green and Grimsby won't reach 47 and the only way Sutton would is if they apply to the EFL to play us in all of their remaining matches.

Its next season we need to be worried about.. It appears that we have a manager with the lowest of coaching badges, who doesn't have the faintest idea of what to do at this level. We have a recruitment team who have badly misjudged the player requirements for the EFL. We have given below average players 2 or more year contracts.. It all spells disaster.

If we had a "Where will finish next season?" thread tonight, I can't imagine many would honestly predict a top half finish. As things stand we look like emulating Grimsby's 2nd season back at this level.

Just looking at previous 4th tier seasons, nobody has gone down with 47 points (our current tally) since Bristol Rovers got relegated with 50 ten years ago. There have been a couple of clubs drop out with 46 since then but FGR only make it to 42 if they continue with the PPG they've had since Cotterill took over, so it very much looks like everybody above the bottom 4 will be fine - assuming Salford will add at least a handful more points to their current 40.

One odd thing to note... We've yet to record a 1-0 win this season. The last time we went an entire season without a 1-0 win was in 1956/57.
Still not had a 2-2 either, though we didn't have one of those as recently as 2021/22. Six 2-2's last season, including the Play Off final of course.

Salford play us when we are next at home so that's 3 points they'll be getting
