With needing 14 players we are realistically looking at consolidation and a mid table finish next season at best, and probably a fight against relegation. You can't make that many changes and expect to hit the ground running regardless of who is in charge... and by the time they get it together we will be in a relegation battle. The only way I can see us avoiding a long hard season next year is if we simplify things style wise and focus on direct simple football which doesn't rely on patterns and shape.

Im with you Durham with the exception of McGoldrick. True, it hasnt quite paid dividends but if Langstaff goes Id much prefer a seasoned goalscorer that the NEW manager could use more effectively. Nemane is 99% crap with the occassional glimpse of the player he'll never be. He was cowardly on Saturday on 2 occassions going forward when just a bit of commitment to win the ball could of resulted in goals. Chicksen sadly looked short on confidence though I do wonder if he could do a job as a traditional full back.

Blimey that'll ensure our attendances drop. Really hope you're totally wrong.

And we'll see the crowds drop to 5k, great idea!!

There's nothing wrong with the style we're trying to play it's the way forward if you want to progress. We just didn't employ defenders that can play/cope with that style. Going forward until recently we have been good, our goals for shows us that. Just let down by defenders panicing as they're not comfortable with the passing game.

But ignoring how badly we need defenders was negligent at best
Or the defenders deemed good enough weren’t available. It’s easy to say we didn’t strengthen, what if the options available were on a par or worse than what we have.

Our style is highly drilled and practiced. It requires time and familiarity in the team as well as good coaching and hours practicing shapes and patterned. We see that in the time it takes new players to break into the first team, and then sub-par performances for a few weeks after that (Robertson, Bostock, Jones all spring to mind as examples). So, given we are likely to have a new coach in the summer and possibly 14 new players there is no way all that will come together for the start of the season. Remember it took LW a fair few games at the start of last season before things clicked and that was with only relatively few off-season changes. Time is not a luxury afforded to new managers, so there will be pressure to bring immediate success to avoid a long relegation battle, and the way to do that is simple, direct, physical football.

It is often said on here results bring in the crowds, not performance and style, so I would assume attendances will hold up if we simplify things.

We will need to sign lots of players though to simplify things as you are basically saying you want hoof ball.

We have a model and it wont always be right but having a plan is going to work better than flip flopping from passing style to hoof ball back to passing style...rinse & repeat.

I'm sorry but that's far too level-headed and sensible for this forum.

The big thing we need is Physicality as a team we arn't big enough or fast enough for this division
Yes we have to cut out stupid individual errors but league 2 players will make them from time to time
it's the amount at the moment that's unaceptable

You muscle your way out of this league it's how we did it in 1998 and 2010, obviously you need a bit of quality as well but first you win the physical battles. We NEVER do this.
