Here's another possible dimension of the players/coaches dynamic at the moment that hasn't been mentioned much...
Most of our players went through an incredible season of duking it out with Wrexham, playing under that intense pressure every week to achieve a record points haul and goal tally. Then to go through nerve-racking play-offs and ultimately come out of top in the most cathartic way imaginable. Then we witnessed the celebrations and saw what it meant for these players to do it for the club and to become football league players for themselves.
Our three coaches got there directly from 13th in NL (or whatever it was) having lost to these same players 9-1 on aggregate last season. If this isn't a case of 'You just haven't earned it yet, baby', I don't know what is.
OK, the decision of our recruitment team bypasses all of this and renders the argument redundant. But isn't it possible some of the squad are thinking of how they earned their promotion to the EFL and how that's devalued, seeing how easy it was for the new coaches in comparison
