Just had a thought. How much rain should it be possible to cope with on a football pitch? 12mm per hour is less than half an inch per hour. If that is an acceptable drainage rate does that mean 48mm in an hour should be cleared in 4 hours? John Nelms seemed to be struggling to make the case for delaying KO. Perhaps he was right?

Despite my criticism of Nelmsy and his part in pitch fiasco i really hope Dundee stick up for themselves here.

We owe that club nothing, we owe their supporters even less and we never ever get anything from spl.....**** them all.

Start pointing out the double standards.

Agree. Some facts about how quickly our pitch can recover might be helpful.

48mm is almost two inches which is a lot of rain to fall in an hour.
I think that the area immediately underneath the Dens Park pitch is very wet as the water is not draining away. This means that every time it rains there is no place for the water to drain away and the pitch becomes waterlogged.
The club are going to have problems if there is heavy rain on Friday 5th April 2024 which is the day prior to their last home game before the split. Nelmsy better have the squeegee mops ready just in case.

People have previously posted that Dens Park used to be a quick draining pitch and it was one of the best playing surfaces in Scotland.

I enclose details of a machine which could solve the drainage problems with the Dens Park pitch without having to rip it up. https://www.greenkeepingeu.com/gkb-m...drainage-work/
According to the article it can be used on grass and hybrid pitches and it has been used on football pitches from council pitches to Premier League level.

Did you read the article and did you note how it operates?

You're suggesting a machine that will cut grooves, in a pitch that has undersoil heating infrastructure in place that could be damaged by the way, that will channel the water away from the grassed area to????????????? Where? The South East corner of the pitch where it will gather the same as it does now?

This machine would simply increase the efficiency with which the water, and the sand that it fills the grooves with, moves toward the problem area. Would possibly even make any blocked drain situation worse with all the sand.

Have you ever tried researching your suggestions before making them?

That would only work if prolonged rain and enough notice

Rains night before no chance of changing venue day of match.

    And why disadvantage ourselves.
