Disturbing to read of the young Brazil and Real Madrid star breaking down during a press conference over the amount of racist abuse he continues to experience in the country. I remember reading that Laurie Cunningham had to deal with similar-including from some of his own team mates-during his spell at Real back in the early 80s.

Reading this report was a bit of a co-incidence as was only discussing levels of racism in Spain the other day. I'd read recent reports about women in the country battling a ***ist culture that had long accepted levels of ***ual harassment but was a bit surprised when our youngest's home tutor (who spent some time in the country) said that it was also one of the most racist countries she had ever lived in as well as one of the most ***ist. This despite the massive Islamic influence that the Moors had on much of the country and, indeed, the very colouring of many Spaniards that might indicate this influence extended to being more than on just the architecture! 🙄😄

Spain isn't the only country battling these issues but clearly still has much to do on both counts. Hope La Liga starts to get its act together and that Vinicius gets the support he needs.
