Wink Where are they now ?

    No 1, Mason Mount

25 years old, approaching the peak years of his career. Twice Chelsea Player of the Year, 36 caps for England, becoming a virtually automatic selection, signed for Man United in July 23 on a 5 year contract and took over Ronaldo's iconic No 7 shirt.

    Then what ?

He has been suffering with various injuries this season, however, this has allowed Mainoo to come on the scene and there is competition for places amongst United's midfield so Mount will find it difficult to force his way back into the team although he is now reported to be fit and in contention.
We could put in a cheap bid.

    Ross Barkley.

It's Good Friday and resurrections are always possible.

A 'Where are they now' a year ago could have featured Barkley, but we all know where he is now. And if we had a decent manager he might even be in the England squad, but the present incumbent would rather pick wasters like Henderson and wait for the hapless Phillips to find his form again.

Well, we now know where Mount is having come on in the 80th minute and Brentford and scoring what could have been the winner if Brrentford had not finally converted one of their numerous chances.
Incidentally, Barkley set up a goal for Luton and they led for a long time at Spurs before finally going down.
Weghorst set up a goal for Oppenheim who lost to two late goals against leaders Beyer Leverkusen with Tella coming on as a late sub and setting up the winner.

In proper football Ashington beat Bridlington 5-2 in a decent game although we went through a purple patch and scored 3 in 10 minutes.

INteresting to note that a former striker of ours, who plenty of fans were pleased to see leave us when Toon jumped in to cover his escape clause, has notched up his 10th PL goal in 12 starts and 11 sub appearances this season. He has been on the pich for 1131 minutes this season which equates to just 12.6 matches -----not a bad record for someone who was always offside ---according to our fans!

A very clever header by Woody, always under rated.

It certainly was a clever header. He has now scored 10 or more goals in 5 PL seasons which is not a bad record, particularly as 4 of those seasons were with us and we were not renowned for goalscoring.
