The problem with the style we're trying to play is that it requires high levels of courage and confidence to make it work, which we had last season, but this team is bereft of confidence now, so the whole thing is breaking down catastrophically. In that situation, the way out is usually to go back to basics and relative simplicity in order to hide the flaws and fragile confidence of the players.
Add to that the fact that Stuart Maynard demonstrably cannot replicate the coaching and psychology skills of Luke Williams - who looks more exceptional with every passing game in retrospect - and we've got major problems at the moment.
Fortunately we're safe, so we've got a bit of time and breathing space to make changes, but come the start of next season we'll have to be much stronger than this, otherwise we're in deep trouble.
