    If top 6 finishes

    As it is.

We are only due Celtic at home and st m.

Will they even it up 19/19 or will we get 18/20 home away?

Better 18 20 more chance of the games actually getting played before the start of next season

All depends on the balance between the top six and bottom six. If the number of home/away games balance in the top six they will be similarly balanced in bottom six. In this secenario all teams will have a 19:19 season albeit not necessarily against the proper teams with adjustments having to be made. If top six has 4 teams requiring 3 home fixtures and 2 requiring 2 home fixtures this equates to 16 home games when only 15 can be set. Similarly the bottom six would have this scenario the other way round i.e. 14 home games when 15 can be set. Therefore at top six team will have an 18:20 season with a bottom six team 20:18. If the 'expected' top six, when the fixtures were set, does not materialise then this can happen and if the 'prediction' is further out of synch then the discrepancy can be even worse.

If a team requires an 18 home 20 away season then we could well be in line for this as we have had a 20:18 season in the past iirc. Then again if the SPFL want to punish us for the postponements they could use this against us. Also iirc again compensation of sorts is paid to a club that loses a home game.

AHH that makes Europe a lot less likely.

    Pity

If the League stays as is there will be no imbalance leaving all teams with a 19:19 season ; pure luck mind you because that top six would never have been the predicted top six. If Dundee and Hibs swap places there would be imbalance and a top six side would gain a home fixture and a bottom six side lose one. If Hibs swapped with St. Mirren then again imbalance but with us in the top six this time meaning, theoretically, we could be the side to get a 20:18 season but not at all likely. I haven't worked out the scenarios if Aberdeen or Motherwell sneaked into the top six as it is unlikely that this would happen but it is just as well that Motherwell and Hibs meet before the split because Hibs and Motherwell replacing St. Mirren and us would have left 5 clubs only requiring two more home fixtures and a chaotic situation.

You just know that Celtic and Rangers will never be involved in a fixture imbalance and that any alteration of fixtures required even to manage a 19:19 season for all will be set to impact on them as little as possible.

Think we respond to adversity better than delivering results that are expected of us. Defiant season.
