I have found it hard to understand why Pace & Kompany have not done everything possible to stay up.
The penny seems to have finally dropped but it's all too little, too late now I'm afraid mon ami. >:
Taken off a Facebook page:
"Documents also revealed that the club’s bank loans have soared to £70million, resulting in an overall debt level of £81million – up from £53million in their 2021-22 accounts.
There will be concerns at Turf Moor that another relegation could plunge the club into financial trouble due to their growing debt levels.
The Clarets are in the process of repaying a £65million loan from MSD Holdings which was taken out during the takeover of the club in 2020 and is scheduled to be repaid by 2027."
Not if we show some smarts in the transfer market CiB.
It's obvious high earning players like Cork, Taylor & Rodriguez who are out of contract will all leave and perhaps high value players such as Berge, Odobert, Muric & Weghorst will be sold to help balance the books.
It won't be the end of the world.
Hard to know just where we stand this summer, we'll have had the TV money this season, which has increased since two years ago, and our wage bill will be lower than two years ago, although we don't know by how much. We only have last year's figures to look at and they're 9 months out of date now, no knowing just what our current financial state of play actually is, although all the indications are that the debt is increasing and I read somewhere that, once again, one of our loans has to be repaid in full in the event of relegation, which if true won't help. It's all smoke and mirrors and guesswork, but for what it's worth I think we're OK this summer but the $hit hits the fan if we don't go straight back up.
One aspect that was revealed in the accounts was the state of play on the factoring of transfer deals. The good news is that we are owed £17 million by clubs who have signed players from us in factored deals, the bad news is that we owe £33 million to other clubs for players we've signed in similar deals. So that's another £16 million of debt we're saddled with.
No matter what we do in July, August transfer wise we will be very capable of mounting a serious promotion challenge next season mon ami.
Without adding any more and subtracting a few of the high earners we will still be too strong for the Championship I reckon.
Right now I'm not losing any sleep over where we are and my son and grandson have got next season's away games all mapped out.
Bring it on.
