Do these numbers represent the Nazi Symbol?

There seems to be a wide split over whether the number 44 on the new German shirt looks like the Nazi symbol.

Has it all been hyped up to boost sales? Does it really look that bad?

Anything is there if you want to find it but to me it's just 44.

If we want total freedom of expression, then why would we ban any symbol, including the Runic symbols used by the Schutzstaffel?

Surely to God someone at Adidas must have noticed this before it was released ?

It does resemble the shoulder symbols of the S.S slightly. What's wrong with ordinary numbers that we can actually read?
Very sad that international kits have now become commercial rather than the traditional solid colours. It won't belong before advertising is used, front and back. Is nothing beyond the reach of the money men?

Yes a definite similarity and considering that nazi memorabilia and symbols have been banned in Germany for many years this is a particularly stupid design, unless as already mentioned a cynical sales ploy.

Because freedom of expression is incompatible with modern society, and it would be a free pass for anyone with an agenda (which this smells like).

Not as much as on the Kiss logo, and half that band are Jewish, with parents who were refugees from the Nazis.
