Thread: Manager of the season

  1. #11
It’s a game of opinions, the following quoted from another site: ‘ it was interesting to hear Richard Sneekes on WM last night. Unprompted by any comments from a caller, he stated that they were two poor fullbacks. They are not great but, in my view, are typical of what you get when you are in the financial state that we have been in. They do a job.’

That is pretty fair reflection on how I see things to be. We have probably over achieved defensively all season.
Rode our luck along with poor finishing from opponents is part of the deal in this division.
I think we all kind of shudder when we see our present team in an EPL match against quality forwards who take four out of five chances presented to them....🫣🫣🫣
I think some of our defending relies on poor finishing by the opponents 😇

Whilst surprised that Carlos has not had a nomination for manager of the season, have just read that he has at least been nominated for manager of the month again for March with Mikey Johnston in the running for player of the month.

Be a sad world if everyone agrees on the same thing
You always get things wrong when I say anything. I never said he should be Englands right back. Walker is better by a mile (than anyone else) but Furlong is a really good player and I doubt even Walker would have cleared off the line as Furlong did v QPR. The fact is Furlong most weeks saves us a goal and helps us get one. He’s that important. Most of what happens down the right comes from him. Week in week out. However when he does something good, not a peep. Makes a mistake and he’s one of the worst fullbacks in the championship. Thankfully the guy just gets on with the job.

It’s a game of opinions, as Richard Sneekes said ‘They are not great but, in my view, are typical of what you get when you are in the financial state that we have been in. They do a job.’
I agree with that, my opinion is that going forwards Furlong is very good and has scored a couple of ***** goals, however in my opinion once again defensively he is very average and has cost us goals this season.
The guy undoubtedly gives 100% but I think with investment we could do a lot better and that includes Townsend who is truly appalling, but of course many people will have a different view

Totally agree with you and Sneekes who is spot on there. Both are average to poor and certainly would be destroyed if we were to reach the Premier. Many comment at the games ‘ if only we had decent full backs and a player who knows where the net is ‘.

I would be committed and give a little wave and kisses to our away following on over 500 grand plus a year! I would even wear rainbow y fronts on the wage for f uck sake!

I thought Furlong did great in the Prem for us.

I think it was widely accepted that both Furlong and Townsend did pretty well in what was their only season in the Prem mate.

I think the issue is that they’ve not performed up to that level in this division.

It’s strange I know but some players seem better suited to the top division.
